Job summary:
This position will support Greene, Tweed & Co.’s Global Trade Compliance Program by ensuring compliance with Export, Import, and Sanctions Controls for Greene, Tweed. The main focus of this position will be to handle the day to day trade compliance related activities as summarized below. In addition, the Trade Compliance Specialist will identify training needs for functions that deal with Export, Import, and Sanctions Compliance Regulations and coordinate their training with the Global Trade Compliance Manager. This position will report to the Global Trade Compliance Manager.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
• Review customer orders for licensing requirements (ITAR or EAR / ECJU), Greene, Tweed supporting documentation requirements, compliance with sanctions regulations, and end user and end use controls. Release orders after completing compliance checks.
• Conduct third party due diligence on customers, vendors, and other third parties.
• Review product classifications (ECCN & Tariff) for product subject to the ITAR and EAR / ECJU.
• Support the export license process and apply for licenses when required, maintain license log, communicate license conditions and maintain records. Release licensable shipments and properly decrement licenses.
• Utilize and update team tools and procedures as directed by Global Trade compliance Manager.
• Prepare origin statements and Free Trade Agreement certificates.
• Maintain current knowledge of trade and sanctions regulations by attending periodic webinars and/or outside conferences.
• Support Global Trade Compliance Manager by participating in periodic audits, and training new employees as needed.
• Understanding of customs valuation methods
• Identify any potential instances of improvements or non-compliance and escalate to the Global Trade Compliance Manager.
• Act as point of contact with the UK government for UK / EU export and sanctions issue arise and ECJU audits. (UK only)
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree is preferred (or equivalent experience).
Skills and Experience:
• 3 years’ experience within compliance and manufacturing with direct involvement in interpretation of export control and sanctions Regulations and Laws.
• Experience in either ITAR or EAR / ECJU is required. Experience with both is a preferred. Experience with international trade compliance regulations is a plus.
• The ability to read and understand various regulations and implementing them into working processes and procedures for the Company globally required.
• The ability to communicate and collaborate cross-functionally with other teams within the company in order to meet both internal and external customer requirements necessary.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines, both independently and as a team member required.
