Job Summary
The Compliance Assurance Lead – Intermediate applies intermediate‑level subject‑matter knowledge to support and execute trade compliance assessments. This role analyzes processes, identifies control gaps, evaluates risk, and contributes to improvements that reinforce HP’s compliance posture. The role functions as an informed contributor within the team—independently performing portions of the assessment lifecycle, interpreting guidance, and providing insight while following established methodologies, policies, and internal frameworks.
This position reports directly to the Compliance Assurance Manager.
Responsibilities
•
Assessment Execution & Internal Controls
- Perform assessments of internal controls, trade compliance procedures, and operational practices by examining documentation, data evidence, reports, and records under moderate supervision.
- Verify alignment between documented procedures, internal policies, and actual business practices, ensuring consistency with relevant trade controls and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare assessment workpapers by documenting test steps, data analyses, evidence, and findings in accordance with Compliance Assurance methodologies.
- Evaluate the adequacy, design, and operational effectiveness of internal controls using structured questionnaires, walkthroughs, interviews, and data testing.
Reporting & Findings Management
- Draft clear, factual, and well‑supported assessment findings and contribute to the preparation of the final assessment report.
- Participate in discussions with auditees, SMEs, and business stakeholders to review results, clarify observations, and ensure alignment on remediation expectations.
- Monitor and follow up on corrective actions to confirm closure and verify control improvements.
Compliance Advisory Support
- Provide guidance to business units and global functions on trade compliance requirements, expectations, and control improvements.
- Support the rollout of trade compliance policies, processes, strategies, and training across organizations to help mitigate regulatory risk.
Professional Knowledge & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain technical knowledge of trade regulations, internal controls, audit techniques, and HP trade compliance policies through workshops, publications, and internal programs.
- Contribute to team initiatives and continuous improvement efforts, including updates to assessment programs, templates, and testing strategies.
- Maintain organized, accurate, and audit‑ready compliance records, ensuring adherence to HP’s documentation expectations.
Education & Experience Recommended
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Typically 2–4 years of experience in customs, export compliance, or global trade functions.

- Working knowledge of audit/assessment methodologies, internal controls concepts, and trade compliance fundamentals.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and report‑writing skills.
- High attention to detail, professional skepticism, and objectivity.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly across functions and levels.
- Effective time‑management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
