Job Description
The GM Mexico & GMSA Customs Analyst is responsible to provide support related to Free Trade Agreements application to customers and suppliers in Mexico and South America.
Key Requirements:
-MS International Relations, International Business or similar experience
-Around 1-2 years of experience
-Proficient level of Portuguese language is required.
-Proficient level of English language is required.
-Knowledge on Customs and Free Trade Agreements
What you'll do:
Continue to attend trainings on these topics to remain adequately informed and knowledgeable;
Systems aptitude is a requirement for this position with knowledge of MS Office, and desirable tools as Microsoft Power BI, KNIME, Databricks, or even programing languages – employee must be willing to continuously learn the GM systems landscape and functionality.

The Customs Analyst roles and responsibilities include the following: prepare analysis on part number solicitation for GM Mexico or GM Brazil correctly and timely executed based on the set standard and methodologies, follows adequate compliance requirements and internal controls, and serves as a repository of expertise in their functional area. Specific duties related to this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Solicitation of declarations of origin to Brazilian suppliers for production and service parts for GM Brazil. (to speak Portuguese language is required)
Analysis of Mexico Imports to determine preference Free Trade Agreement (FTA) eligibility.
Solicitation of certificates of origin (ACE55) for parts imported into Mexico from GM Brazil.
Solicitation of certificates of origin (ACE 55) for parts imported to Mexico from different Brazilian suppliers.
Solicitation of certificates of origin for various FTA’s (TLCG2, CAFTCA, AP, etc.) for South America, Central America and others.
Create reports on a weekly base and Identify non eligible parts
In addition, below are the Customs Analyst responsibilities:
Responsible for operationally executing and supporting GM Mexico and GM Brazil Customs methodologies.
Provide timely and accurate update on the workload as part of Status Reporting.
Have a direct communication with GM Mexico and GM Brazil Customs team.
Produce schedules, reports, analysis, and other work-product as required.
They also must comply with overall requirements for a Customs Analyst as follows:
Ensures compliance with GM Corporate policies and external regulatory requirements;
Supports internal and external audits (if any)
Interacts with internal/external related parties
Has strong control focus – brings any issues (accounting or control related) forward immediately;
Can present to Senior Leadership and consolidating information in a clear and understandable matter;
Self-starter and able to accomplish assigned tasks with minimum supervision;
Has a strong focus on process improvements to drive quality accounting and compliance
Frequent contact with others outside of work group to accomplish tasks
Leading Special Projects (including LEAN/Six Sigma activities)

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week {or other frequency dictated by their manager}.
