The Propulsion Tools & Methods team is looking for people who are excited and inspired to architect, build, and integrate software that supports the Boeing digital-thread. This work supports our Propulsion Organization; a world-class team of over 1000 engineers across the product life-cycle from product development to certification to fleet support. The ideal candidate adeptly navigates, communicates, and executes project objectives across the engineering, IT, and software development teams at Boeing. Strong candidates are analytical-thinkers with cross-platform (Linux, Windows, Cloud) software development skills (Python, C++, Fortran, shell) with a vision of how to lead Propulsion's Digital Transformation.

The selected candidate is required to support onsite work at one of the listed locations. Occasional onsite support at other locations around Puget Sound may be required.
Position Responsibilities:
Collaborates with cross-functional teams (engineering, IT, software, management) to enhance Propulsion Engineering analysis capabilities.
Architects, develops, and maintains critical propulsion analysis platforms and applications (Python, NPSS, shell) to support engineering teams.
Promotes and assists the Propulsion Engineering Community in learning and utilizing new applications and methods.
Evaluates impacts of enterprise-wide technology initiatives and integrate mature enterprise technology offerings into Propulsion Engineering portfolio.
Conducts code reviews and design reviews of Propulsion analysis tools to follow software development best practices within Propulsion.
Supports the development of solutions to complex problems within Propulsion, including software architecture trade studies and modifications.
Creates and maintain software documentation, training materials, and Jupyter notebooks to facilitate knowledge sharing and community engagement.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, software engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related technical field
1+ years of engineering experience, with a focus on aerospace or propulsion engineering
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in engine performance analysis, including NPSS model development and flight test data analysis
Knowledge of database architectures (SQL, NoSQL, Graph) and query languages (Cypher, SQL)
Experience with web frameworks (e.g., Django) and documentation tools (e.g., Sphinx)
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Strong understanding and experience with software development best-practices, including version control (Git, GitLab), software testing, and CI/CD processes
Proficiency with Linux/Unix computing systems and shell scripting
Experience with engineering analysis processes, including data archiving and analytics

Summary pay range Associate (level 2): $94,350 - $127,650
