Job Summary: You will serve as a TOOL ROOM MECHANIC in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT, MECHANICAL SHOP 931 of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: Examining tools and equipment prior to issue and upon return to detect damage or excessive wear and to determine if safe to operate. Disassembling, inspecting, repairing, maintaining, and assembling various equipment. Using air motor analyzers, tachometers, lathes, and other hands and automatic tools. Repairing safety equipment, manufacturing welding lines, and sharpening knives, chisels, punches, cutters and drills. Reading and comprehending regulations, procedures, fabricating pipe plugs and assembling and prepping cutting machines. Utilizing computer systems and programs to log and maintain inventory of tools and PPE.
