How You Can Make an Impact

The Healthcare Content Writer serves as a technical storyteller and thought leadership driver for McKesson Health Systems. This role translates complex healthcare industry insights into compelling, persuasive narratives that support brand reputation, industry credibility, and enterprise marketing priorities. This individual is accountable for the consistent execution, optimization, and evolution of the Prescribed Perspectives content hub and related thought leadership initiatives.

How You’ll Spend Your Day

Content Hub Execution & Optimization

  • Own and manage the Prescribed Perspectives editorial calendar, ensuring consistent, high-quality weekly publishing.

  • Write, edit, and publish original and curated industry content aligned to business priorities.

  • Partner with WebOps to execute publishing workflows, optimize digital performance, and ensure adherence to SEO and digital marketing best practices.

  • Monitor analytics and provide monthly performance insights with recommendations for improvement.

  • Maintain operational excellence across intake, workflows, and publishing processes.

Thought Leadership Support & Amplification

  • Partner with Media Relations to support external thought leadership opportunities, including drafting bylined articles, talking points, and supporting materials.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and executives to translate technical healthcare insights into clear, audience-centered storytelling.

  • Repurpose external engagements and industry moments into content hub amplification opportunities.

  • Contribute to identifying relevant industry themes and aligning content to enterprise priorities.

Campaign & Demand Alignment

  • Partner with demand generation and campaign teams to ensure content hub themes align with broader organizational messaging and strategic initiatives.

  • Support the monthly newsletter development and distribution in coordination with email marketing teams.

  • Work cross-functionally to amplify content through appropriate channels.

Relationship Management & Editorial Guidance

  • Build effective working relationships with SMEs, marketing partners, and cross-functional collaborators.

  • Provide editorial guidance and copy support for product launches and marketing initiatives.

  • Ensure messaging consistency and quality across initiatives.

Operational Discipline & Self-Leadership

  • Manage projects independently within Smartsheet, Workfront, and other McKesson tools.

  • Demonstrate strong time management and prioritization skills across competing deadlines.

  • Operate effectively in ambiguous environments with minimal oversight.

  • Adapt quickly to shifting priorities while maintaining quality and consistency.

What You’ll Need

Minimum Requirements

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.

Critical Skills

  • Typically requires 5-7 years of relevant healthcare journalism, marketing, communications, or related experience.

  • Ability to translate technical industry verbiage into compelling, persuasive storytelling (preferably within the healthcare industry).

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

  • Experience operating in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with minimal direction.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfort presenting to various levels of the organization.

  • Experience with digital publishing platforms and familiarity with SEO and content performance analytics.

  • Experience using project management tools such as Smartsheet, Workfront, or similar systems.

  • 4-year degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or equivalent related experience.

Travel

This role is a hybrid position. The selected candidate is expected to work on-site at our Las Colinas office a minimum of two (2) days per week, with the remaining days worked remotely. Specific in-office days may be designated based on team needs and business priorities.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$92,300 - $153,900
