General Summary:

This is an entry-level role supporting the operational execution of Unum’s vendor risk lifecycle. This position plays a critical role in onboarding, monitoring, and offboarding third parties by ensuring required due diligence, documentation, and risk data are accurate, complete, and timely.

The Specialist serves as a first-line operational contact for business stakeholders, Risk SMEs, and third parties, managing a high volume of inquiries and ServiceNow requests while maintaining vendor inventory integrity and risk reporting. This role is highly process-driven and data-focused, with independent ownership of reporting, inventory management, and follow-up activities.

This is an excellent entry point into risk, compliance, or governance for someone seeking a structured but dynamic role that blends operational execution, analytics, and stakeholder communication.

Job Specifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • 0–2 years of experience in compliance, auditing, risk operations, reporting, or related analytical work

  • Strong Excel and data management skills

  • High attention to detail and organizational discipline

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and high-volume inquiries with urgency

  • Strong written communication skills (email-heavy environment)

  • Comfort working in structured, policy-driven environments

  • Exposure to regulatory compliance, governance, or vendor management

  • Experience with ServiceNow or workflow systems

  • Familiarity with operational excellence tools (Lean/Six Sigma)

  • Experience working cross-functionally with business stakeholder
     

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and manage the comprehensive third-party inventory, ensuring data accuracy and completeness

  • Monitor and respond to high-volume TPRM mailbox and ServiceNow requests

  • Coordinate vendor onboarding, ongoing monitoring, and offboarding activities

  • Determine required due diligence activities based on established risk criteria

  • Track assessment completion and follow up with stakeholders and third parties as needed

  • Maintain and update risk portal tasks and documentation

  • Create, maintain, and present TPRM metrics and reporting to Risk Consultants and leadership

  • Track unmitigated risks and support remediation coordination

  • Support audit documentation and exit strategy planning

  • Collaborate closely with Risk Consultants, Compliance, IT Risk, Operational Risk, and Strategic Sourcing

  • Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance review efficiency

  • Support the evolution of TPRM policies, procedures, and reporting tools

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$45,600.00-$86,200.00
