Thesis work description: 

In this master’s thesis, you will explore the frontiers of RNA-targeted drug discovery by investigating RNA–protein interactions and developing novel high-throughput in vitro assays. Your work will focus on designing, optimizing, and validating assays to screen small-molecule libraries for modulators of RNA–protein complexes, using advanced technologies such as TR-FRET and AlphaLISA. 

You will gain hands-on experience in the design of experiments (DoE), high-throughput assay development and validation, quantitative data analysis, and scientific thesis writing. As a member of a collaborative research team, you will carry out lab experiments, interpret your data, present findings in scientific meetings, and actively contribute to the overall progress of the project. 

Placement

This is an on-site position at AstraZeneca Gothenburg.

Start: Fall term 2026 

Credits: 60 

Essential Requirements: 

  • Enrolled in a Swedish University 
  • A bachelor’s degree in life sciences with a strong focus on biochemistry and cell biology. 
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and functions. 
  • Excellent English communication skills, including speaking, presenting and scientific writing. 
  • Hands-on experience with in vitro assays.
