Job Description

Safety

  • Ensure personal safety and the safety of fellow employees
  • Complies with all EHS directives and follows all plant safety rules
  • Ensures a clean work area on assigned machine/section

Quality

  • Ensure part quality on assigned machine meets or exceeds customer expectations
  • Pull samples for Quality Assurance for testing and as requested
  • Adjust process parameters on equipment as necessary to correct quality concerns

Production

  • Ensure safe and efficient start-up and shut down of thermoforming lines
  • Retrieve production paperwork and ensure it corresponds to product produced on former 
  • Accurately record process parameters on production equipment into data system
  • Adjust process parameters on production equipment as needed to maintain uptime
  • Accurately complete required documentation during shift for assigned machine
  • Maintain correct fluid and lubricant levels in production equipment
  • Ensure operators are performing required job tasks correctly
  • Work with support groups to troubleshoot and correct equipment issues
  • Record and ensure accuracy of production results in to data systems

  • Complete assigned tasks as required by management.

    • This includes following all LOTO, department rules, and filling out all required safety documents
  • Ensures a clean work area on assigned machine/section
    • A clean work environment is critical to safety in preventing slips, trips, and falls

Quality

  • Ensure part quality on assigned machine meets or exceeds customer expectations
    • Our part quality reflects directly on our job performance and is the responsibility of the technician on each machine
  • Pull samples for Quality Assurance for testing and as requested
    • Samples are generally pulled at the middle and end of each shift for QA and need to be pulled as requested by QA if issues arise
  • Adjust process parameters on equipment as necessary to correct quality concerns
    • The process needs to be modified to ensure proper part quality as issues arise.

Production

  • Ensure safe and efficient start-up and shut down of thermoforming lines
    • This is the responsibility of the line tech to ensure that lines start and stop in a safe and efficient manner. Starting is not completed until the line saves parts.
  • Retrieve production paperwork and ensure it corresponds to product produced on former 
    • Label/traveler information must be verified by technicians and they must retrieve all new orders.
  • Accurately record process parameters on production equipment in to data system
    • Record process variables (speeds, melt temp, pressures, etc.) and input in to Ignition and other data entry systems
  • Adjust process parameters on production equipment as needed to maintain uptime
    • Each line tech should adjust the process parameters on machines to ensure uptime on their equipment
  • Accurately complete required documentation during shift for assigned machine
    • Each line has different documentation as required by PIT; every machine should have gram weights, hourly line checks, part quality checks, and process notes at a minimum
  • Maintain correct fluid and lubricant levels in production equipment
    • Equipment functions the best when we have the correct amount of fluids and lubricants
  • Ensure operators are performing required job tasks correctly
    • Technicians are the leaders of their assigned machine and must ensure that operators are following packaging procedures
  • Work with support groups to troubleshoot & correct equipment issues
    • Cooperative relationship must exist between support groups and production to ensure efficient correction of machine issues
  • Record & ensure accuracy of production results in to data systems
    • Paperwork and results of production shift must be accurately entered in to data systems (WebEFF, Ignition)

Authority to scrap “in-process” product

Authority to adjust machinery to improve part quality

Authority to contact QA to place product on hold

Authority to diagnose equipment and coordinate maintenance efforts with associated support departments

Authority to correct operator issues

Authority to retrieve paperwork and labels

Authority to operate production line equipment in thermoforming

Authority to train new-hire technicians (with experience)

Authority to progressively express concerns up the chain-of-command

Compensation

The starting salary for this position is expected to be between $5,000 to $52,500; however, base pay offered may vary within the full salary range $5,000 to $100,000 depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on national averages and a geographic differential may be applied based on work location. Position may also be eligible for Amcor’s Management Incentive Plan / Sales Incentive Plan, which is an annual bonus program based on business and individual performance, as well as medical coverage and other health and welfare benefits.
