PURPOSE:
The purpose of a Thermoforming Automation Maintenance Journeyman or Automation Maintenance Apprentice is to inspect and repair Automation equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Inspect and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, electrical and mechanical systems on
thermoforming automation equipment.
2. Perform preventive maintenance procedures as specified in the QSI system.
3. Complete work assigned by Group Leader or Asst. Group Leader.
4. Communicate activities with Group Leader and other members of department.
5. Maintain neat and orderly appearance of the shop and automation equipment.
6. Obtain parts in emergency cases.
7. Assist in other departments as requested by Group Leader or Asst. Group Leader.
8. Seek training to stay current with job requirements.
9. Assume control of machine when a situation arises which has potential for personal injury or rapid deterioration of machine.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Hearing sufficient to recognize and respond to shouted warnings, alarms and horns on forklifts.
2. Stereoptic vision of 20/40 or better and peripheral vision of 70 degrees or greater and ability to read 10 12 point font at a distance of 12-18 inches. Ability to complete an Isihara color vision test.
3. Ability to lift 45 pounds at a minimum of 10 times per hour.
4. Ability to lift 45 pounds over shoulder height a minimum of 10 times per hour.
5. Able to work in extremes of heat / cold.
6. Able to work independently in a potentially isolated area of the building.
7. Verbal communication adequate to use a radio and or paging system to contact other co-workers in other areas of the complex.
8. Able to work independently and with others.
9. Knowledge on mechanical systems.
10. Able to accept responsibility for work performed.
11. Basic trouble shooting skills.
12. Dependable and motivated.
13. Good past work experience.
14. Able to participate in an apprenticeship program.
15. Ability to work at heights(with or without fall protection). Must not be at risk of sudden alterations in consciousness.
16. High School diploma or GED equivalent
