Key Responsibilities:
- Support the design, development, evaluation and selection of board components.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams to optimize design performance.
- Apply design principles to ensure the integration of components and enhance platform interaction.
- Contribute to thermal analysis using tools such as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), leveraging knowledge of Fluent.
- Utilize Python and MATLAB for data analysis and thermal evaluation to support design optimization.
- Engage in continuous learning and improvement to enhance technical skills and stay aligned with industry trends and Intel's business goals.
As a Thermal Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience and practical exposure to real-world engineering challenges while building a strong foundation for a career in hardware and platform design. You will learn to:
- Develop a fundamental understanding of platform hardware architecture, including board-level design concepts and component integration.
- Apply thermal engineering principles to evaluate and optimize system performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Perform thermal analysis and simulation using industry-standard tools such as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
- Analyze thermal and performance data using Python, supporting data-driven design decisions and optimization efforts.
- Understand how design trade-offs impact manufacturability, cost, performance, and scalability in high-volume production environments.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams, gaining exposure to electrical, mechanical, and system-level design considerations.
- Learn Intel’s design methodologies, validation processes, and engineering best practices used in the development of cutting-edge computing platforms.
- Strengthen problem-solving, analytical, and technical communication skills through real project contributions and design reviews.
- Gain insight into industry trends, emerging technologies, and Intel’s business objectives, helping you connect engineering work to broader product and customer impact.

Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ months of experience in:
- Thermal engineering.
- Hands-on experience with Python or MATLAB
- Thermal analysis and data interpretation.
- Analyze platform component interactions.
- Advance English level.
- Must have unrestricted, permanent right to work in Mexico (this role is not eligible for visa or immigration sponsorship).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with CFD tools such as Flotherm & Icepak for thermal modeling and evaluation.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical design principles.
- Eagerness to collaborate in a team-oriented environment and contribute to cross-functional projects.
