In Abbott’s Heart Failure (HF) business, we’re developing solutions to diagnose, monitor and manage heart failure, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.
 

This role is responsible for driving the development and implementation of short and long-term strategic plans for the Abbott HF business for Australia.  This includes therapy and market development of Chronic MCS, Acute MCS and CardioMEMs portfolios.
 

Market development activities includes but not limited to:  Hospital MCS program development, therapy development awareness, referral pathway expansion, patient flow mapping, marketing program execution, key account management, reimbursement supports and providing guidance on areas including clinical and educational to ensure ongoing growth of the Abbott Heart Failure technologies within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Map advanced Heart Failure patient populations across ANZ and design programs with implanting centres to optimise referral pathways and channel eligible patients for LVAD and other HF therapies.

  • Act as a consultant and strategic partner to key customers, identifying unmet needs and co‑creating therapy development programs that drive HF service capability and therapy adoption.

  • Develop and execute key account–specific development plans aimed at increasing therapy utilisation, case growth and market share across the HF portfolio.

  • Lead business development initiatives and strategic projects within ANZ, working closely with Senior Leadership, regional marketing and corporate functions to align with broader HF strategic priorities.

  • Collaborate closely with CRM, EP and SH business units to ensure integration and alignment of the Heart Failure strategy across targeted accounts.

  • Drive internal and external therapy awareness, ensuring consistent and effective communication of clinical value, evidence, patient pathways and HF therapy opportunities.

  • Execute marketing strategies and tactical plans to accelerate therapy adoption, maximise HF portfolio performance and support market development objectives.

  • Coach, guide and support the Therapy Access Manager to ensure effective execution of therapy development activities, customer programs and account plans.

  • Build and maintain strong customer rapport with implanting centres, HF specialists, surgeons, nurses and referral networks to strengthen long-term partnerships.

  • Lead national and account-level forecasting for product and revenue, ensuring accuracy, insight-driven planning and alignment with business expectations.


Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Biomedical, Engineering, Medical Science, Human Movement or related field (Coronary Care Nursing/Cardiac Technician) are essential.

  • Working within an existing Heart Failure Model of Care with 5+ years Medical sales or technical experience, CRM experience within medical device industry.

  • Experience in developing markets of new technology / therapy.

  • Must have proven sales and key account management experience.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in educating and training physicians in new technologies, implants and patients management systems would be advantageous
