Senior Manager of Merchandising (Apparel) – TNF, Americas

What will you do?

As Senior Manager of Merchandising – Apparel, you will lead, curate, and execute transformative product strategies that ensure The North Face delivers the right product in the right place at the right time. You will drive marketplace strategy and assortment planning for the Americas region, overseeing a team of seven merchants across varying levels.

This role requires dynamic leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to navigate complex systems while influencing cross-functional partners. You will balance consumer insights, financial accountability, and regional relevance to deliver best-in-class assortments and achieve business objectives.

Partnering within the Global and regional marketplace teams, you play a critical role in executing the overall strategic direction for Apparel through assortment and line planning management. You need to be passionate about how consumers engage with products, trends, and the outdoor and lifestyle marketplaces. You are commercially driven, influential, curious, and thrive in a team environment.

Partnering closely with the Director of Category Merchandising and supporting their vision, you must have the ability to apply methodology and commercial product management leadership skills to lead your team in creating market and brand relevant product assortments.

What you will do:

  • Marketplace Strategy & Planning: Own long-range and pre-season planning for apparel, setting marketplace strategy and identifying white space opportunities. Define segmentation across wholesale and DTC channels and align with counterparts across Footwear, Apparel, and Equipment.
  • Financial Accountability: Achieve and exceed financial targets for the category, including revenue, pricing, margin, and sell-through goals. Partner with regional planning teams to ensure financial objectives are met.
  • Assortment Development: Build consumer-centric assortments and demand-driving attributes to support account meetings. Develop seasonal strategy, line architecture, and pricing within global guidelines.
  • Regional Relevance: Drive SMUs and customer-specific initiatives to ensure regional relevance and marketplace differentiation. Leads Regional strategy for execution of collabs and seasonal energy capsules to ensure relevancy across targeted distributions.
  • Global Feedback: Provide feedback to global counterparts on line plans based on consumer insights and local needs at key GTM milestones.
  • In-Season Management: Monitor marketplace execution and manage capacity. Partner with Marketing and Planning to deliver financial targets and optimize in-season performance.
  • Consumer Insights: Continuously track consumer demand trends and leverage insights to shape planning and assortment decisions.
  • Leadership: Coach and develop a team of seven merchants, fostering capabilities and driving executional excellence.

What do you need to succeed?

  • 8+ years of experience in merchandising, product management, or related field; apparel experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams, manage complex projects, and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking, financial acumen, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and navigate complex systems and processes.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, influence, and problem-solving ability with both internal and external partners.
  • Proficient in merchandising and planning tools; strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, adaptive environment with a consumer-first mindset.
  • Proficient in PowerPoint with excellent presentation skills
  • Comfortable in a self-starter environment.
  • Ability to work in an open environment with cross-functional partners.
  • Computer proficiency, including specific job-required applications.
  • Able to manage responsibilities & tasks without direction.
  • Must be flexible and adaptive to change
  • Location requirement: Denver, Colorado

Hiring Range:

$115,775.00 USD - $144,720.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
