Position: Global Sustainability Analyst

What You Will Do

The Sustainability Analyst is responsible for supporting the sustainability strategy at The North Face by assisting with corporate sustainability programs and tracking and measuring outcomes. This explorer is part of a team charged with ensuring that the brand making is progress towards its sustainability goals, with a focus on sustainability reporting, product development, materials selection, and manufacturing processes. In addition to tracking and measuring progress on projects, this person will help share the information out with relevant teams to keep cross-functional partners updated and informed. The sustainability analyst will also support general sustainability communications and progress share outs to the regions, including to TNF associates, retail staff, and sales teams. This role will require a high level of collaboration with teams across the brand, including Product, Merchandising, Marketing, DTC, and Sales. This role will also work with the VF Sustainability team on data gathering for VF reporting needs.

 

Let's break down the day-in-the-life a bit more.

  •  Track sustainable materials usage data across all product categories (Apparel, Accessories/Equipment, and Footwear) and track TNF’s progress towards VF’s Science Based Targets materials footprint reduction goals.
  • Collect and manage environmental impact data, such as verified Higg FEM scores for T1 and T2 suppliers, Higg BRM scores, and track progress towards SBT reduction goals.
  • Use our internal product rating tool and PLM system/BOMs to calculate the percentages of sustainable content in our seasonal collections
  • Support collection of preferred materials traceability and transparency data from suppliers, and assist with verification of preferred materials attributes/certifications (including recycled or organic content, and TNF’s certifications to the RDS and GRS)
  • Stay informed on latest sustainability trends including reporting, product design and development, eco-preferred materials, manufacturing techniques, and industry compliance and regulations
  • Support wholesale teams to respond to product and brand sustainability requests
  • Support marketing green claims reviews and sustainability storytelling

 

What do you need to succeed?

We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you’ll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 2+ years of professional experience in corporate sustainability, supply chain management, or related role.

The foundation skills you will need in this position are:

  • Apparel industry experience and understanding of supply chains, product development and manufacturing are preferred

  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting metrics and schemes including greenhouse gas accounting, HIGG tools, and Science-Based Targets

  • Exceptionally strong data analytics skills (including data analysis, process implementation and management, and reporting)

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint

  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse audiences

  • Knowledge of life cycle assessment processes and an understanding of how to evaluate a product’s environmental footprint

  • Knowledge of preferred materials, materials manufacturing processes, and chemicals

  • Ability to take data, analyze it, and communicate it effectively to drive decision making

  • Attention to detail and data accuracy are a must

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams and stakeholders, both internally and externally

  • Experience using PLM systems

  • Proven ability to identify, analyze and objectively problem-solve with prompt and meticulous follow-through

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities

Hiring Range:

$63,936.00 USD - $79,920.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential.
