The position will play a critical role in the modernization of the Delivery Operations Information System (DOIS) for the United States Postal Service (USPS). The Testing Lead will oversee all testing activities ensuring high-quality software delivery through rigorous automated and manual testing. The individual will lead a team of testers to implement CI/CD processes and use advanced AI tools to optimize testing efficiency.

HOW A TESTING LEAD WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive test strategies and plans for modernizing DOIS.
  • Oversee automated and manual testing processes to ensure high-quality, secure, and compliant applications.
  • Implement Shift Left testing to identify and remediate defects early in the development lifecycle.
  • Utilize AI/ML tools to enhance testing processes, including automated test generation and analysis.
  • Ensure testing coverage for all system components, including user interfaces, internal integrations, and external APIs.
  • Design, execute, and maintain test cases and scripts for functional, regression, performance, and security testing.
  • Engage with development teams to ensure seamless integration of testing activities within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Manage and report on test results, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with USPS's Section 508 Accessibility standards and other federal guidelines.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields, preferred but not required.
  • If there is no relevant college degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required.

Required Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in software testing, with a strong emphasis on test automation and CI/CD practices.
  • Proficiency in using testing tools such as JUnit, TestNG, Selenium, and GitHub.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services and tools.
  • Strong understanding of AI/ML tools like WatsonX and GitHub Copilot.

Required skills:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders.

Desired Skills:

  • AWS Certifications related to DevOps or Testing (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Machine Learning).
  • Experience in leading large-scale federal IT projects, preferably within USPS or similar environments.
  • Experience with Version One Agile Lifecycle Management Tool.
  • Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB Certified Tester).
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • This position has a U.S. residency requirement. The USPS security clearance process requires the selected candidate to have resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years as follows: U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 6 months consecutively in the last 3 years (unless they meet certain exceptions). Non-U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 90 days consecutively in the last 3 years.

The likely salary range for this position is $113,900 - $154,100. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
