We are currently looking for:
Testia Ltd - NDT Consultant Engineer
Location: Wales
Contract: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
The remit of the role is to act as an NDT expert, supporting the operations by providing Level 2 NDT Inspection, technique development, technology development, Level 3 services, equipment demonstrations/sales and occasional training activities.
Duties
Deliver NDT Level 2 inspection work at Testia Ltd and customer locations
Provide NDT Level 3 and Responsible Level 3 support to our internal and external customers
Perform NDT technique development and procedure development oversight and sign off
Undertake and support the development of bespoke and novel NDT solutions
Lead the uptake of advanced equipment and methods such as Eddy Current Array, Advanced Phased array (FMC/TFM, etc), inspection automation and similar technologies
Perform the function of horizon scanning for future technology and applications in NDT
Perform the role of consultant advisor to peers, leadership team and customers in the application of new NDT technologies and techniques
Lead the development of research and consultancy opportunities, liaising with current and new customers to generate new opportunities
Support the sales and business development functions in the development of materials supporting bid opportunities
Identify opportunities for new business through liaison with your own network and planning attendance at Trade Shows and Conferences
Provide occasional support for Testia’s Training School (potentially performing the role of examiner by mutual agreement with training provided to support this)
Undertake self development and the development of others for the benefit of the business
Key Criteria
PCN and/or EN4179 Level 2 in four of the following methods: Ultrasonic Testing, Ultrasonic Phased Array Inspection, Magnetic Particle Inspection, Penetrant Testing, Eddy Current or Radiography
Demonstrable experience of in-service/ manufacturing inspection
Familiarity with working to occasional tight deadlines, working flexibly to overcome challenges faced in daily operations
A self-motivated problem solver with a ‘can-do’ attitude
Organised and professional in approach with an understanding of the Organisation’s position and needs
Ability to work under own supervision, coordinating own travel, workload and deliverables
Ability to function as part of a high performing team
Experience in the inspection of metallic and composite components
Ability and interest to develop additional Level 3 capabilities in support of role maturity
Full, clean, UK driving licence class B
Ability to travel within the UK at reasonable notice for weekly work at customer sites
Ability and willingness to support EN4179/PCN training on occasions of high demand
Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Ability to attain Security Clearance (SC)
Desirable Criteria
EN4179 and/or PCN Level 3 in one or more methods
Project management experience and qualifications
Management or team leadership experience
Interest and ability to work overseas for extended periods (up to 1 month)
