Job Description

 

The Test Engineer II designs, develops, and implements cost-effective methods of testing and Test Equipment for production testing of small UAV systems and the PCBA's and sub-system that comprise them.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Prepares test and diagnostic programs, designs test fixtures and equipment, and completes specifications and procedures for new products.
  • This position requires C# / OOP software development using Visual Studio IDE. Experience in LabVIEW is also required.
  • Plans the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing, configuring and calibrating product.
  • Develops test plans and strategies
  • Independently drives for results and consistently meets deliverables on projects with aggressive timelines.
  • Work with diverse teams across multiple disciplines.
  • Provides feedback to product design team to improve testability of design.
  • Applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues
  • Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Minimum of 2 - 5 years' experience in development of test solutions to support testing in a production environment, including on-going support
  • Experienced in writing Test Plans based on functional requirements and technical specifications
  • Experienced writing bug reports and performing root-cause analyses
  • Experienced in Object Oriented Programming (C# programming using Visual Studio IDE a plus)
  • Ability to generate estimates based on different levels of specifications at different life cycle stages of a project
  • Knowledge of engineering disciplines including mechanical & electrical design, material properties, and test instrumentation
  • Strong testing knowledge & ability to use the latest testing technology and standards
  • Knowledge of various testing methodologies at all stages of product development
  • Demonstrated ability to select and integrate test instrumentation, to interpret component data sheets, board schematics, and wiring diagrams and to design test interface circuits and controls
  • Proficient in planning, writing, and executing test specifications

Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies:

  • Radio Frequency (RF), video test experience is preferred
  • Strong quality, risk quantification, and technical leadership skills
  • Possesses effective problem resolution, judgment & decision making skills
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Exercises good judgment within defined procedures & practices to determine appropriate action. Typically receives general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments
  • Able to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a broad variety of duties
  • Displays strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectives
  • Takes ownership and responsibility for current and past work products

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work in an office and manufacturing environment (Constant)
  • Required to sit and stand for long periods (Frequent)
  • Required to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)
  • Able to lift up to 10 lbs. and carry objects of varying sizes and shapes (Occasional)

Training Travel Requirement:

This role requires weekly travel from Salt Lake City, UT to Simi Valley, CA for training for the first three months of employment. Training occurs Monday through Friday, three weeks per month. Travel, lodging, meals, and ground transportation will be provided. After the training period, the position is based in Salt Lake City, UT.

The salary range for this role is:

$62,963 - $89,250
