Dematic Corp. has an immediate need for a Test and Validation Engineer to work at our Corporate office in Grand Rapids, MI within Product Development. Successful candidates should have experience planning, executing, and documenting test and validation activities for engineered products. Experience with material handling systems and components is beneficial but not required. This role requires strong analytical skills, hands-on testing experience, knowledge of reliability engineering principles, and the ability to apply systems engineering practices, including the V Model, to product validation activities.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $90,400 - $113,000 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Tasks and Qualifications:

What You Will Do in this Role:

  • Performs advanced engineering work within test and validation disciplines.
  • Owns test and validation strategy for assigned products and subsystems.
  • Defines test cases derived from product requirements and ensures alignment with system-level requirements using the V‑Model.
  • Translates requirements into practical test fixture designs and detailed test procedures. Develops and modifies CAD models and drawings to support test fixture fabrication.
  • Works closely with engineering technicians to build, modify, and improve test fixtures and test equipment.
  • Carries out test setups, operates test equipment, and ensures accurate data collection. Analyzes test results and prepares comprehensive test and validation reports.
  • Identifies test failures, anomalies, and reliability risks and drives resolution of routine and moderately complex issues.
  • Supports continuous improvement of test methods, fixture designs, reliability test coverage, and validation processes.

What We are Looking For:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent experience is required at a minimum. A Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field with relevant professional experience will also be considered.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive working knowledge of test and validation practices, systems engineering principles, and reliability engineering concepts.
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful experience in test engineering, validation, or reliability-related roles.
  • Experience working within a systems engineering framework and applying the V‑Model is required.
  • Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., Polarion, DOORS, or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Experience with material handling systems and components is beneficial but not required.
  • Demonstrated experience designing test fixtures using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, or equivalent) and working directly with engineering technicians is required.
  • Experience with reliability testing methods such as life cycle testing, accelerated life testing (ALT),
  • Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT), or Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and engineering data analysis tools required.
