About the Role:
As the project’s Test & Evaluation (T&E) subject matter expert, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical integrity and performance outcomes of a major Defence capability. Reporting to the Principal Engineer, you will lead the design, execution, and governance of T&E activities across the system life cycle.
This is a role for an engineer who thrives on technical depth, stakeholder influence, and the opportunity to set the standard for how T&E is delivered.
What’s Involved:
• Develop and maintain high‑quality engineering and technical documentation, ensuring alignment with relevant legislation, Defence guidelines, policies, and standards
• Obtain and exercise Delegated Technical Authority, providing authoritative guidance and oversight across T&E activities
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, gathering requirements, communicating progress, and ensuring technical alignment across multidisciplinary teams
• Provide expert T&E advice to project teams, shaping decisions that influence capability performance and risk posture
• Plan, coordinate, and execute verification and validation activities, ensuring system components meet design intent and operational needs
• Drive continuous improvement in T&E processes, methodologies, and engineering governance components
• Interpret complex data sets, test results, and modeling outputs to deliver clear, evidence‑based engineering insights
Who we’re Looking For:
You’re an engineer who brings both technical credibility and the ability to influence. You’re comfortable operating in complex environments, collaborating across disciplines, and guiding teams through rigorous test and evaluation frameworks. You excel in environments where critical thinking, curiosity, and disciplined execution matter.
You’ll Need:
• Degree qualifications in Systems Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline
• Demonstrated experience in aviation, aerospace, defence, or other complex systems engineering environments
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical details into clear, actionable insights
• A process‑driven mindset with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to engineering precision
• Proven ability to assess and prioritise activities using risk‑based decision‑making
• Strong troubleshooting skills and a natural curiosity for understanding system behaviour and root causes
• Experience working with verification, validation, certification, and compliance frameworks
• Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, operations, safety, and project teams, influencing outcomes without relying on formal authority
• Commitment to producing clear, defensible, audit‑ready documentation
• Adaptability and a continuous improvement mindset, always seeking smarter and more efficient ways to deliver T&E outcomes
