Job Description
To design and implement comprehensive testing procedures for programs within a suite of applications, ensuring software quality and reliability. Contribute to the development of test plans, create detailed test cases, and execute testing activities to validate functionality, performance, and compliance with requirements.
The Test Analyst – Industry SME is responsible for managing and coordinating testing across industry and compliance-driven projects impacting multiple FirstRand Business Units. The role focuses on end-to-end testing, industry engagement, risk management, and close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the quality and delivery of S&S solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Industry Testing & SME Support
- Manage and coordinate testing for industry-related projects.
- Attend and participate in industry meetings to build and enhance SME knowledge.
- Provide SME testing support to FirstRand Business Units in collaboration with S&S business teams.
- Analyse industry requirements and understand their impact on S&S solutions.
- Define internal S&S industry test scenarios aligned to regulatory and business requirements.
- Maintain a solid understanding of end-to-end processes across FirstRand.
Test Planning & Execution
- Review and execute industry and internal test cases.
- Perform testing of S&S solutions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Leverage automation tools and frameworks to improve testing efficiency and quality.
- Track end-to-end testing progress and provide consolidated reporting to industry stakeholders.
Stakeholder & Project Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with S&S Project Managers on escalations, risk tracking, and mitigation.
- Identify, log, and proactively manage testing risks across projects.
- Align with Project Managers and Test Analysts across impacted FirstRand Business Units.
- Facilitate test reviews and feedback sessions with Business Units.
- Conduct investigations and provide support during industry testing cycles.
Governance & Oversight
- Ensure Test Analysts assigned to projects deliver on agreed scope through dotted-line accountability.
- Align all testing activities with IT governance standards, including documentation, task logging, and audit compliance.
- Support additional large-scale compliance initiatives impacting multiple Business Units where required.
External Engagement
- Collaborate with external stakeholders including regulators, clearing houses, and peer financial institutions.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Test Analyst within complex enterprise environments.
- Exposure to industry or regulatory-driven testing initiatives.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end systems and business process flows.
- Experience reviewing and executing comprehensive test cases.
- Hands-on exposure to test automation tools and frameworks.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
Nice to Have
- Financial services or banking industry experience.
- Exposure to payments, clearing, settlement, or regulatory environments.
- Experience engaging with industry bodies or regulators.
