GAF is seeking a high energy sales professional with a track record of building successful relationships and closing new business. The Territory Manager – Metal Roofing is responsible for collaborating with the steep slope and commercial sales teams on the sale of the TimberSteel™ Premium Metal Roofing System. Essential Duties

  • Build: Own, progress, and close the sales funnel, develop business by turning potential opportunities to closed wins, through value-selling the benefits of the TimberSteel™ system. Develop and present the business case and benefits of adding the TimberSteel™ systems to targeted contractors’ portfolios,driving business through both the contractor segment and distribution channels. Overcome objections and convert hurdles into growth opportunities

  • Attack: Pinpoint market opportunities with contractors, builders, architects and distribution; with the mindset to build lasting and meaningful relationships. Expect to juggle competing priorities and client requests/deadlines on a regular basis to introduce and enhance sales of the TimberSteel™ system.

  • Consult: Influence the building materials industry; constantly networking to become a trusted advisor to existing and potential customers. Engage and educate customers with insight and product knowledge. Assure customers receive appropriate training, sales tools, etc. to successfully sell and install products. Serve as a guide rail to both contractors and installers through the installation process, helping to coordinate the appropriate GAF resources at the appropriate times. Explain complex subject matters (e.g. pricing, availability…) to any audience and tactfully communicate both good & bad news. Navigate when to defer to a client's request vs. when to guide a client to make the best choices. Thrive on expert problem solving, determining solutions that execute favorable results.

  • Persist: Display strong negotiating tactics by leveraging value propositions and pricing strategies.

  • Strategize: Create and present updated go-to-market plans to all functions in the business. Compile reporting to highlight hits, misses, learning, competitive landscape, and strategic next steps; proactively identify opportunities to exceed expectations and position our clients as leaders in their space. Work with third parties to assure that our products meet financing criteria for their markets.

  • Stand Out: Make your presence known at customer shows, conventions, and other industry-related activities. Expand industry contacts and work to establish GAF as a significant player in metal roofing.

  • Impact: Be pleasant to work with and keep a positive outlook. Know how to have fun, but know how to balance it with work. Embrace and respect different personalities and work with various groups to accomplish sales goals. Utilize social media to gain further insight into the market i.e. industry trends, market practices, and communication with customers. Represent the voice of the customer and market for new product development working with the cross-functional team to report feedback.

  • Win: Display diplomacy and a mastered ability to build immediate rapport with anyone. Close the deal. Assure that GAF meets and exceeds annual sales goals.


Qualifications Required

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

  • The ability to have and maintain a driver’s license

  • Must continuously have the ability to differentiate colors precisely


Qualifications Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Sales experience in the building material industry with broad exposure to in-home sales

  • Multi-channel experience selling roofing materials to distributors, contractors, lumber dealers, two step, architects, property homeowners, retail, and Co-Ops

  • Proficiency in Google Suite and MS Office suite

  • CRM/Salesforce experience strongly preferred

  • Bilingual is a plus

  • Experience and orientation in working cross functionally and collaboratively

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both oral and written

  • Basic understanding of policy impacts on solar industry

  • High energy/high sense of urgency/fast-paced and can think on his/her feet

  • Ability to work independently on competing priorities

  • Ability to travel in assigned territory

  • Ability to operate motor vehicle and safely traverse/navigate job sites in a constant state of alertness routinely

  • Ability to wear and work in PPE occasionally

  • Visual acuity including close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus routinely to view documents and computer screens, operate motor vehicles, perform visual inspections, etc.

Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Individual compensation offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and/or qualifications.

Total Cash Compensation Range: $144,000-$198,000 (inclusive of base salary and an annualized commission target).
