Terminal Manager: Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia
Lead Safe, Reliable Operations – Vopak Terminal Darwin is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Terminal Manager to lead our Darwin terminal operations.
This critical role is responsible for the overall safety, reliability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction of the terminal, ensuring the quality and timely delivery of our clients' products.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety, Environment & Compliance
- Safety Leadership: Drive a proactive safety culture, conduct monthly safety observation rounds, and ensure adherence to all Vopak safety fundamentals and standards.
- Environmental Stewardship: Ensure the prevention of pollution, manage environmental initiatives (reducing energy/waste), and maintain full compliance with all local and federal regulations.
- Regulatory Adherence: Oversee compliance requirements and standards, coordinating necessary internal and external audits.
Operations & Service Excellence
- Terminal Management: Oversee the scheduling of all shipping, transfers, and maintenance activities to maximise terminal reliability and performance.
- Continuous Improvement: Ensure operational performance meets Vopak standards and benchmarks, and facilitate ongoing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Customer Focus: Provide excellent customer service, manage key customer relationships, forecast requirements, and conduct regular operational reviews.
People & Financial Management
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team including Operations Manager, Logistics, Maintenance, and SHECQ. Conduct regular performance reviews, manage resourcing, and assist with staff development.
- Financial Control: Prepare and manage the terminal's budget (OPEX and CAPEX), monitor expenditure metrics, and report on budget variances.
- Project Delivery: Define, scope, and oversee all annual terminal projects, ensuring execution aligns with Vopak Project Management standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Essential Management Experience: 5 – 10 years of experience in a team management position.
- Industry Expertise (Essential): Proven experience in the fuel, chemical, fuel transport, or shipping industry.
- Industry Expertise (Preferable): Experience in the hazardous and dangerous goods industry.
- Education: A tertiary qualification in management or operations is preferable; a technical qualification is beneficial.
