Minimum Requirements:

Three (3) or more years of relevant experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Position Description:

The Temporary Research Assistant II in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology will perform laboratory-based experiments to investigate genetic factors that modify cancer and metabolic disease risks following exposures to environmental and dietary toxicants.

Assist in laboratory ordering and biosafety management duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read and understand scientific literature to design experiments

  • Understand and perform experimental protocols

  • Understand and adhere to biosafety regulations

  • Contribute towards instrument maintenance and troubleshooting

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in biological or chemical sciences

  • Laboratory research experience in cell culture and biochemical assays.

  • Evidence of research productivity and communication of experimental results

  • Demonstrated interest and potential for research independence appropriate for matriculation into a PhD program in biomedical sciences.

  • References that attest to work effort and ability to perform experiments independently towards broad research objectives

Competencies

  • DNA and RNA extractions, qPCR, cell culture, enzymatic analyses, biochemical and molecular assays, data management, and research planning.  

  • Ability to use software for fund accounting and data presentation. 

  • Ability to prepare and effectively communicate research reports and presentations. 

  • Ability to manage and prioritize time to effectively perform duties assigned.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
