Temporary Medical Assistant

US-NV-Hawthorne Full time

Amentum is seeking a Temporary Medical Assistant to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. The Temporary Medical Assistant will be a key staff member at the on-site medical clinic. Typical functions include tracking of employee physicals, appointment scheduling, health records maintenance, administer minor first-aid, and performing functions in accordance with the alcohol and drug program. Must be a United States, naturalized citizen or Permanent Resident and able to obtain and maintain Hawthorne Army Depot (HWAD) site access.

Note: This temporary position will be from February 2026 through July 2026. Work will not exceed 6 months in duration.

Typical Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform and provide minor first aid such as caring for minor cuts, abrasions, lacerations, and burns; recognizing and administering first aid for shock, and heat stroke.

  • Conducts assessments and evaluations of injury or ailment. Advise management, Supervising Physician, private physician, or the employee about the circumstances of the injury. Furnish medical history as appropriate.

  • Perform physical examinations to include but not limited to phlebotomy, audiometry, spirometry, vitals, blood pressure, pulse, o2 stats, EKG’s, and others eligible for clinic services.

  • Maintain employee health history documentation. Administer immunizations. Administer oxygen.

  • Assists in the scheduling of examinations, treatment, or return to work. Secure ambulance services for injured or ill employees, as required. Assist in completing the Clinic’s portion of worker’s compensation forms.     

  • Performs evidential breath tests and urine/saliva collections for alcohol & drug program.

  • Maintain employee medical files.

  • Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.

  • Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.

  • Follow established procedures and takes direction from the Medical Director, Clinic Supervisor, Safety Manager, and/or Designee(s).

  • Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record.

  • Work in close proximity to ammunition and explosive demilitarization facility, ammunition and explosive storage facilities, and ammunition and explosive conveyance.

  • Breaks and lunch periods can be at irregular times based on the requirements of the schedule.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Must be available to work from February 2026 through July 2026. Work will not exceed 6 months in duration.

  • Must be able to be certified in any facet of clinic operations and have basic knowledge of pulmonary function testing, hearing test, vision screening and electrocardiogram.

  • Must be willing to be at work when scheduled, maintain a good attendance record, and have the ability to work overtime, varying hours and/or rotating shifts as needed.

  • Must be willing and able to work in a procedurally compliant environment.

  • Able to work in an environmental and safety compliant environment.

  • Good writing and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment for efficient medical clinic functions.

  • Experience in Industrial Clinic Operations, an outpatient environment, or other Medical Field.

  • Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any HWAD drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all certifications as required by the Master Training Plan.

  • Must be able to maintain strict adherence to HIPAA Guidelines and protect patient confidentiality.

  • Must be a United States, naturalized citizen or Permanent Resident and able to obtain and maintain Hawthorne Army Depot (HWAD) site access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Phlebotomy certification, a license, and 1-3 years' experience is preferred.

  • National Medical Assistant certification or equivalent, preferred.

  • First Aid/CPR Certified, preferred.

  • Certified to complete Evidential Breath Testing and Drug & Alcohol screenings, preferred.

  • Two (2) years experience in Industrial Clinic Operations, an outpatient environment, or other Medical Field, preferred

  • CAOHC certification for Hearing Conservation, preferred.

Safety Sensitive Position

This position is designated as a safety sensitive position and is subject to the requirements of the HWAD Medical Surveillance Plan and Matrix and the HWAD A&D Program.  As a condition of employment, candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, drug testing, medical exam, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by 29 CFR and Army Regulations: AR 190-11, AR 190-13 and DOD Contractors Safety Manual 4145.26. 

Compensation:

The starting hourly rate for this position is between $21.12 - $28.09 (Per the CBA). Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Medical, vision, dental, STD and life insurance, PTO–120 hours per year, accrued at 4.62 hours per pay period, Sick leave–One (1) hour of accrual for every thirty (30) hours worked, Paid Holidays-Eleven (11) per calendar year, 401K, and an employee stock option plan.
