ING

Temporary Assignment (STA) – Risk Manager, Group Funding & Liquidity Risk Management

CDR (Amsterdam - Cedar) Full time

Period: 1 June – 1 December (6 months; slight deviations discussable)

Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in safeguarding ING’s liquidity position—on a temporary but high‑impact basis?

We are looking for a Risk Manager to join our Group Funding & Liquidity Risk Management team for a Short‑Term Assignment to provide temporary leave cover. In this STA, you will be working at the heart of ING’s global risk framework, applying your expertise in financial risk and balance sheet dynamics to help ensure the resilience of ING’s liquidity profile during a dynamic period.

The team

The Group Funding & Liquidity Risk team is responsible for ING’s global funding and liquidity risk management and provides high‑visibility insights to senior management. We design, analyse and implement risk practices that safeguard ING’s liquidity position in an evolving economic environment.

You’ll join our Amsterdam-based global expertise centre, collaborating with stakeholders across business lines and geographies. You will need sound quantitative skills, strong analytical capabilities and a hands‑on attitude suited for a temporary role in a fast-paced global environment.

Roles and responsibilities

During this 6‑month STA you will:

  • Monitor and advise on key balance sheet and market developments relevant for ING’s funding and liquidity position.
  • Support initiatives in the quantification, modelling and stress testing of funding and liquidity risks.
  • Contribute to forward-looking risk assessments and solutions.
  • Provide challenge on ING’s funding strategy and funding structure at Group and subsidiary level.
  • Support ING’s alignment with supervisory expectations and contribute to interactions with the ECB and SRB.
  • Coordinate activities and analyses with stakeholders such as Group Treasury, Finance, Financial Markets, and Wholesale/Retail business lines.

How to succeed

To thrive in this temporary role, you bring:

  • Strong quantitative skills and solid understanding of financial risks in banking.
  • Relevant experience in financial risk, ALM, Treasury or banking supervision (the STA nature means a short learning curve is important; experience of ~5+ years is typically sufficient).
  • Sound understanding of bank balance sheet dynamics.
  • Ability to navigate a global bank with cross‑border operations and complex regulatory requirements.
  • Skill in analysing complex concepts and translating them into concise narratives for management.
  • Academic level, preferably in Economics, Econometrics or Finance.
  • Python proficiency is a strong plus.

Personal profile

  • A flexible team player with excellent command of English.
  • Strong prioritization, communication and analytical capabilities.
  • Able to operate effectively in situations involving conflicting interests and fast‑evolving challenges.

Rewards and benefits

This is an internal temporary assignment (STA). Your current employment conditions remain applicable. The assignment offers:

  • Exposure to high-impact balance sheet and liquidity topics
  • Learning opportunities in a global risk context
  • Close collaboration with senior stakeholders in Risk, Treasury, Finance and the business
  • A dynamic environment where your expertise directly contributes to ING’s financial resilience
