JOB MISSION:
New Balance is hiring a temporary Sport Research Lab Coordinator to support athlete testing and research efforts in Apparel Innovation. This role works closely with our Sports Research Apparel Engineer to collect data, manage lab sessions, and translate insights into product development support.
Aligned with our mission to create emotionally connected, athlete-rooted product platforms, this role supports the development of performance apparel by enabling athlete-centered testing and rapid iteration. You’ll help ensure our products are grounded in real movement and designed with distinction.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Support the vision and execution of innovation research portfolios with a focus on biomechanics and physiology.
Evaluate new technologies, methods, and analysis techniques.
Analyze human performance data (kinematics, kinetics, perception) to uncover insights that inform product creation.
Assist in reporting and sharing findings with cross-functional teams.
Operate lab equipment including motion capture systems (QTM, Theia, Visual3D), force plates (AMTI), and thermal testing devices (Thermetrics Hot Plate, ANDI Manikin).
Collaborate across multiple projects simultaneously.
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:
Degree in engineering, biomechanics, kinesiology, physiology, exercise science, or related field; Master’s preferred.
Understanding of sport mechanics or physiology.
Interest in performance-focused apparel research.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Competence in data analysis and programming (Matlab preferred).

Flexible Work Schedule
For decades we have fostered a unique culture founded on our values with a particular focus on in-person teamwork and collaboration. Our North American hybrid model encourages rich in-person experiences, showcasing our commitment to teamwork and connection, while maintaining flexibility for associates. New Balance Associates currently work in office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Our offices are fully open, and amenities are available across our North American office locations. To continue our focus on hybrid work we have introduced “Work from Anywhere” (WFA) for four weeks per calendar year.
