Responsible for providing prompt and friendly service to the organization patients, visitors, and staff. Uses computer telephony integration (CTI) software and hardware to process incoming and outgoing calls. Responsible for initiating all hospital emergency procedures. Monitors all critical hospital gases.

Description

1. Answers all calls utilizing proper telephone etiquette and excellent customer service skills.

2. Forwards all calls and/or messages to the appropriate area or person.

3. Determines the priority or urgency of incoming calls and routes the call to the appropriate person.

4. Enters data into system regarding physician, patient information, and other hospital related business using CTI following all guidelines set by the department.

5. Assists in maintaining current physician information (e.g. MD profiles, call schedules, pager numbers, etc.) and staff information (e.g. contact lists, contact numbers, etc.) in department computer logs and distributes updated information as necessary.

6. Announces all emergency codes.

7. Monitors hospital gas alarms, fire alarms, and freeze alarms for heart valve storage and contacts appropriate personnel when alarm sounds.

8. Monitors and answers all AC emergency lines for internal emergency calls.

9. Coordinates internal and external calls for physicians and other staff members.
