Hourly Pay Range:
$19.31 - $28.00 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.
Position Highlights:
- Position: Telemetry Technician - Nights
- Location: Arlington Heights, IL
- Part Time: 40 hours every 2 weeks
- Hours: 11:00pm -7:30am / every other weekend required
- Required Travel: No
What you will do:
- Continually monitors and analyzes patients’ cardiac rate and rhythm, with accurate interpretation of ECG (electrocardiographic).
- Documents ECG measurements, (PR, QRS intervals), rates and rhythms on computerized documentation and creates the Medical Record document.
- Prepares rhythm strips for rhythm competent RN to approve. Upon approval, rhythm strips will be available in EMR for provider to visualize.
- Communicates to healthcare team the patient’s basic ECG rhythm, immediately notifies the healthcare team of life-threatening dysrhythmias
- Monitors patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), by using the SP02 monitors, as ordered by provider.
- Updates each patient’s telemetry history, to enhance the capabilities of our monitoring equipment which then can accurately identify rhythms. Reviews the history of patient information at intervals, analyzes ST segment changes and alerts caregivers to significant events.
- Initiates and discontinues patients telemetry monitoring. Assesses appropriateness of monitoring by evaluating stability of rhythm, duration of monitoring and knowledge of patient condition per healthcare team.
- Serves as preceptor/ resource to orientees’ or students learning interpretation of dysrhythmias and function of monitoring equipment.
- Assumes responsibility for identifying areas in need of improvement including work processes and monitoring equipment. Participates in audits regarding emergency notification procedure for telemetry. Inventories telemetry equipment daily, assists with restocking, and relays the need for additional supplies. Enters daily telemetry charges.
What you will need:
- The level of knowledge normally obtained through the completion of four years of high school. Participation in the studies of the field of Applied Science Cardiology or completion of paramedic program preferred.
- Completion of basic ECG interpretation course, with strong arrhythmia recognition skills required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
- The organizational skills necessary to simultaneously monitor the heart rate and rhythm of multiple patients and the ability to prioritize and complete required work during the shift schedules.
