Cairo, Egypt (On-Site)
Purpose of the Role
- The Telecom Installation Manager is responsible for managing, coordinating, and supervising all Telecom installation activities for the Cairo Metro Line 1 Rehabilitation Project, ensuring delivery in accordance with contractual requirements, technical specifications, project schedule, quality standards, and HSE regulations, within a live operational metro environment.
Job Requirements (Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years in telecommunications installation, with at least 5 years specifically in lead installation role at rail/metro projects.
- Proven experience in Brownfield and/or Rehabilitation railway projects is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of railway Telecom systems and interfaces
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Effective communication and coordination abilities
- Problem-solving and decision-making capability
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Professional approach in dealing with Clients and Authorities
- Site-based role with night shifts and weekend works as required
- English: Very good (written and spoken)
Key Responsibilities
- Manage on-site installation activities for all Telecom systems, including but not limited to: Fiber Optic Networks, Radio systems, CCTV, Public Address (PA), and Operational Telephony.
- Manage, lead, and supervise telecom installation teams across all project locations.
- Ensure installations are performed in stations, depots, OCC, and trackside areas according to approved methods and drawings.
- Monitor productivity, workmanship quality, and performance of the installation staff.
- Provide daily technical guidance, site instructions, and problem-solving support
- Identify training needs and ensure technical competency of the telecom installation personnel.
- Create the installation method statements, work procedures, and risk assessments.
- Review all the installation drawings to ensure telecom equipment fits within the physical constraints of the stations, at grade and tunnels.
- Prepare and manage installation schedules, manpower plans, and develop the "Look Ahead" schedules.
- Coordinate Telecom activities with Consortium partners (Civil, Power, Track) and Rolling Stock teams to resolve any On-Site Clashes.
- Interface with Client, Consultant, Authorities, and JV partners on installation matters
- Ensure full compliance with project specifications, Hitachi Rail procedures, and HSE requirements.
- Monitor quality of installation works, manage inspections, NCRs, and corrective actions.
- Enforce strict Health, Safety, and Environmental protocols, particularly for high-risk work in tunnels and energized environments.
- Promote safe working practices in live railway environment.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports
- Support claims, variations, and technical clarifications related to Telecom installation
- Facilitate the transition from installation to the Testing & Commissioning (T&C) phase, ensuring all "As-Built" documentation is accurate.
