JOB PURPOSE

Liberty Global Technology Strategy team is responsible for leading structured technology strategy assessments, working across and representing the European technology estate of Liberty Global. A high performing team that operates at the intersection of technology, strategy, finance, and corporate development of Liberty Global.

Supporting Tech Strategy in evaluating major technology trends and shaping major investment cases through detailed technology due diligence on emerging technologies and ventures opportunities.

Responsible for providing an internal technology consultancy service supporting product and technical development by working with key internal and external subject matter experts to provide high level options, costs and lead times at the concept evaluation/directional steer stage, influencing hundreds of millions of capital investment over medium to long term horizons, as well strategies to optimize OCF growth.

Seeking a diligent, proactive, inquisitive, practical person to join the team, who ideally has worked-in a team of multidiscipline consultants, and who will develop and grow within the team.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Delivering detailed technology strategy assessment activities
  • Guided evaluation of disruptive technology to ensure long range strategic investment plans consider both emerging and adjacent technologies
  • Providing high quality research and analysis on strategic innovation and technologies.
  • Develop communications material suitable for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Production of techno-economic analysis to support discussion of alternative technology choices
  • Support diligence efforts of potential ventures targets through co-ordination of key technology experts across markets and Liberty Tech
  • Interact with internal and external subject matter expertise and operational teams as required to support technology or strategy assessments
  • Support Tech Strategy by engaging with external technology organisations and academic/research institutions to foster knowledge discovery and sharing of emerging technologies
  • Deliver technology strategy insights to partners to help them understand technology options available to support them in their mid to long term planning
  • Deliver analysis to drive conclusions and recommendations that can underpin technology choices within our product and technology roadmap

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Experience using consulting skills to evaluate technology / investment options, to inform and shape strategy
  • Deep knowledge and strategy experience at least one technical field and ability apply concepts to other technologies
  • Strong understanding of the economics associated with related architectures / technologies
  • Comfortable driving insights from data with analytical rigor

DESIRABLE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • An objective, critical and strategic problem solver ideally with telecoms and/or engineering experience
  • Has a systematic, disciplined, and analytical approach to problem-solving, with experience of working in a successful team
  • Comfortable in handling the complexity associated with addressing the needs of multiple affiliate countries, partners, and commercial relationships
  • Results orientated and comfortable with enterprise-level decision making
  • Ability to work across the business to capture business-critical objectives & translate to architectural and technical strategies or impacts
  • Ability to prioritise business needs based upon strategic importance and contribution to financial thesis
  • Able to cope with pressure and demanding timescales without comprising quality and integrity
  • Strong interpersonal and engagement skills, ability to build strong productive relationships with partners across the business

PREFERRED EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent or able to demonstrate a similar level of ability from industrial experience
