State Street

Technology Risk & Remediation Project/Program Manager, Vice President

Quincy, Massachusetts Full time

Who we are looking for

We are seeking a Vice President level Project / Program Manager to lead the execution of complex initiatives within State Street Global Technology Services. This role focuses on coordinating delivery across multiple workstreams, strengthening governance and execution discipline, and supporting risk reduction and remediation outcomes aligned to business and regulatory priorities.

The ideal candidate is an experienced program manager who thrives in structured execution, stakeholder coordination, and proactive risk management, rather than hands‑on technical delivery. Experience working in a regulated financial services environment and supporting large technology or transformation initiatives is strongly preferred.

This is an internal-facing role that requires effective collaboration with globally distributed teams and senior stakeholders across technology and business functions.

What you will be responsible for

Program & Project Execution

  • Manage the planning and execution of complex projects and programs, ensuring alignment to defined objectives, milestones, and delivery commitments.

  • Coordinate multiple related initiatives and workstreams, tracking dependencies, risks, and progress to support timely and predictable outcomes.

Risk Reduction & Remediation Support

  • Identify execution, delivery, and operational risks early; support the development and tracking of remediation plans with clear actions, owners, and timelines.

  • Partner with technology and business teams to drive consistent execution of remediation, transformation, and exam-readiness initiatives.

Governance, Dependency Management & Reporting

  • Support established governance structures by maintaining delivery cadence, managing dependencies, and ensuring issues are escalated appropriately.

  • Prepare clear, concise program status reporting, including milestones, risks, issues, and dependencies, for senior stakeholders and governance forums.

  • Assist with change management, delivery commitments, and resource coordination to minimize disruption and maintain accountability.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with key stakeholders across technology, risk, and business teams to ensure shared understanding of priorities, expectations, and delivery status.

  • Coordinate effectively with global teams, including project managers, business analysts, and delivery partners.

  • Facilitate discussions that drive alignment, resolve issues, and support informed decision-making.

Execution Effectiveness & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor program performance and delivery metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Apply program management best practices, including agile and change management principles where appropriate, to strengthen consistency and execution quality.

What we value

  • Strong Program Management Fundamentals: Proven ability to manage complex initiatives with multiple stakeholders, dependencies, and competing priorities.

  • Risk-Aware Execution Mindset: Demonstrated experience identifying delivery risks and supporting practical mitigation approaches.

  • Stakeholder Management Skills: Comfort working across organizational boundaries and supporting senior leaders through clear communication and follow-through.

  • Governance & Discipline: Appreciation for structured execution, documentation, issue tracking, and transparent reporting in a regulated environment.

  • Communication & Professional Presence: Strong written, verbal, and facilitation skills, with the ability to present information clearly to senior audiences.

  • Adaptability: Ability to operate effectively in dynamic environments while maintaining focus on execution and outcomes.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 10+ years of experience managing complex projects or programs within large organizations.

  • Experience delivering transformation, remediation, or risk‑aligned initiatives in a regulated financial services environment.

  • Strong understanding of project and program management methodologies, including agile and change management principles.

  • Experience working with globally distributed teams.
