Technology Lead

About technology

At Huge, it's not only about depth in technology, but ongoing incubation and experimentation as to how to apply technology. Every technologist at Huge helps bring ideas to reality through deep collaboration with strategy and creative. Technologists at Huge don't just write code; they create impactful solutions that resolve challenging client business needs and elevate the overall experience.

Job description

Huge is looking for a Technology Lead, React Native to join the Technology team. The Technical Lead is a problem solver responsible for the overall execution and organization of the development effort on large-scale mobile technology engagements with a particular focus on native commerce experiences. You have the ultimate responsibility of making technologies work together and, as a result, are a key contributor to the success of the project.

You will transform requirements into architecture and design documents that a development team can use to build robust, scalable mobile solutions. You're also responsible for leading a team of engineers in building performant, accessible and maintainable mobile applications that remain usable under intermittent connectivity issues, gaining buy-in for technical architecture and proactively identifying and mitigating technical risks. You will work closely with backend and middleware teams to shape API contracts that serve the mobile client well.

A successful candidate will have advanced communication and negotiation skills, an innate ability to simplify complex technology concepts and a strong capability to plan, prioritize and integrate all components of a technical solution.

What you'll be doing

Discovery & analysis

  • Performing technical requirements gathering, use-case discovery and mobile platform analysis for transactional experiences.
  • Performing problem analysis — identifying root causes, outlining resolution options and resolving issues.
  • Evaluating vendor documentation and technical requirements to accurately estimate time and cost and recommend business-appropriate approaches.

Architecture & design

  • Generating convincing and substantiated technology and architecture recommendations for cross-platform mobile solutions.
  • Developing and maintaining software requirements specifications and mobile architecture documents.
  • Establishing the technology footprint for the engagement — tools, frameworks, and platform choices — and keeping it current as the solution evolves.
  • Mapping integration points across third-party APIs, native device capabilities, and platform services.

Partnership & negotiation

  • Partnering with backend and middleware teams to negotiate and evolve API contracts and optimize for mobile client needs including latency, payload shape, offline resilience, and feature flag driven rollout.
  • Working with vendor services on technology selection and implementation tasks.
  • Collaborating with technology directors to develop estimates and overall implementation solution plans.

Delivery & execution

  • Leading all implementation, customization and integration efforts from an implementation and quality perspective across iOS and Android.

Stakeholder communication

  • Serving as the primary day-to-day technical contact for clients, third-party vendors, technology partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Preparing and delivering technical proposals and presentations to all levels of a client's organization.

Contribution

  • Contributing to Huge's body of knowledge through best practices, reusable patterns, and internal technical enablement.

What we'd like to see

Experience

  • 7–10+ years of experience developing and leading large-scale technology engagements, including at least two years in an agency or consultancy environment.
  • Experience delivering solutions for large multinational brands.

Craft

  • Expert in React Native with deep experience shipping production applications on both iOS and Android.
  • Strong grasp of native mobile development fundamentals — understanding of iOS (Swift/Objective-C) and Android (Kotlin/Java) environments, platform APIs and device capabilities.
  • Deep knowledge of React Native architecture patterns including the new architecture (Fabric, JSI, TurboModules), state management and performance optimization. Hands-on experience with Redux Toolkit and RTK Query (or comparable data-fetching/caching libraries) is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript (ES202x), with a solid understanding of Node.js for tooling and backend integration.
  • Strong understanding of mobile performance profiling, memory management and optimization strategies.

APIs, integrations & commerce

  • Experience with REST and GraphQL API design and consumption in mobile contexts including offline-first architecture and local data persistence. Comfort operating against evolving or incomplete API contracts — using mock layers and interface-first development — is valuable.
  • Experience integrating native modules and third-party SDKs — analytics, push notifications, payments, authentication and deep linking.
  • Familiarity with mobile commerce and native payment integrations (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Stripe, in-app purchases) is preferred.
  • Experience with mobile security best practices including secure storage, certificate pinning, authentication flows and OWASP mobile guidelines.

Quality & Delivery

  • Strong background in mobile testing strategies — unit, integration and end-to-end — using Jest, Detox and Appium.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for mobile — Fastlane, Bitrise, GitHub Actions — and managing app store submissions and release processes for both Apple App Store and Google Play.
  • Familiarity with over-the-air update solutions (Expo EAS, CodePush) and staged rollout strategies.

Architecture

  • Strong object-oriented design skills, deep familiarity with architectural patterns (MVC, MVVM, Clean Architecture) and enterprise design frameworks.
  • Experience with enterprise-scale mobile design systems and component libraries.
  • Knowledge of mobile accessibility standards (WCAG, platform-specific accessibility APIs) and inclusive design principles.

Leadership & Communication

  • Demonstrated leadership of technology teams with eight or more members — engineers, QA and DevOps — including distributed nearshore and offshore teams.
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior technical team members, fostering skills development.
  • Advanced C1 level English fluency with excellent written and verbal communication.

If the selected candidate holds a degree in Engineering or a related profession, they must present their professional license. To verify your degree requires this license, please visit www.copnia.gov.co and https://www.consejoprofesional.org.co/
