Job Description:

The HPE Server & Storage Product Technical Consultant is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing compute and storage solutions across enterprise and mid‑market customers in Malaysia and the broader SEA region. The role spans HPE ProLiant & Synergy, HPE Alletra (Block/File/Object), HPE Nimble/Primera (legacy to current), StoreOnce, SAN fabrics, and Data Services Cloud Console (DSCC) delivered in standalone, converged, composable, hyperconverged, and GreenLake consumption models.

You will work closely with HPE GreenLake delivery, Aruba/Network, Cloud/Virtualization, and Project Management teams to ensure consistent, high‑quality outcomes aligned to SEATH delivery standards and regional compliance requirements (e.g., BNM RMiT, PDPA Malaysia/Singapore, MAS TRM).

Responsibilities:

  • Solution Architecture & Design
    • Lead discovery and translate business/technical requirements into HLD/LLD, BOMs, and implementation plans.
    • Architect solutions using:
      • Compute: HPE ProLiant Gen11/Gen12, Synergy (Composable), Superdome Flex (as applicable)
      • Storage & Data Services: HPE Alletra 5K/6K/9K, Nimble, Primera, StoreOnce, HPE GreenLake for Block/File/Object, DSCC, InfoSight
      • Converged/Hyperconverged: dHCI, SimpliVity (as applicable)
    • Design resilient, secure, and scalable architectures across on‑prem, hybrid, and multi‑site setups (stretched/metro clusters, DR).
    • Define data protection and business continuity patterns: snapshots, replication, backup, air‑gap, cyber recovery.
    • Prepare Capacity & Performance models (IOPS/latency, CPU/RAM, throughput, growth forecasts).
    • Ensure designs align with governance, risk, and compliance (BNM RMiT, PDPA, MAS TRM).
  • Implementation & Migration
    • Deploy and configure:
      • Servers & Management: iLO, HPE OneView, Compute Ops Management (COM), firmware baselines, BIOS policies, profiles/templating (Synergy).
      • Storage: Array provisioning, RAID/NVMe pools, storage classes, QoS, snapshots/replication, encryption/key management.
      • SAN & Connectivity: Brocade/Cisco MDS, zoning (single/dual initiator), NPIV, trunking, NVMe/FC, iSCSI, NFS/SMB, S3.
      • Virtualization/OS integrations: VMware vSphere/VMFS/vVols, Hyper‑V, RHEL, Windows Server, Kubernetes CSI.
      • Data Protection: StoreOnce, Catalyst, Cloud Bank, integrations with Veeam, Commvault, RMAN.
    • Execute structured migrations (P2V/V2V/V2C, storage array refresh, tech refresh, data center relocation) with runbooks, rollback, and change control.
    • Conduct UAT/SAT, performance tuning, and knowledge transfer (KT) to customer ops teams.
  • Operations, Optimization & Health
    • Enable InfoSight and DSCC for proactive monitoring, predictive analytics, and fleet optimization.
    • Define standard operating procedures (SOPs), runbooks, patch/firmware schedules, and lifecycle governance.
    • Perform performance troubleshooting (queue depth, latency hotspots, noisy neighbor), and capacity/right‑sizing reviews.
    • Align with security hardening baselines (access control, RBAC, MFA, TLS/SSH, secure firmware).
  • Documentation & Compliance
    • Produce comprehensive HLD, LLD, configuration guides, test documents, operational runbooks, and as‑built documentation.
    • Map solution controls to regulatory frameworks (BNM RMiT, PDPA, MAS TRM, ISO 27001) and assist in audit evidence preparation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Practice Development
    • Run customer workshops, present findings/recommendations, and manage expectations with Infra, Cloud, Security, and App teams.
    • Mentor junior consultants; contribute to templates, accelerators, and best‑practice playbooks for SEATH delivery.
    • Support pre‑sales discovery/scoping (effort estimation, risks/assumptions, SoW inputs) as needed.

Education and Experience Required:

  • 6–10+ years in server/storage engineering or consulting with enterprise‑scale deployments.
  • Proven delivery of data center refresh, storage consolidation, SAN modernization, backup modernization, and GreenLake engagements.
  • Experience with BFSI, Government, Telco, Manufacturing in Malaysia/SEA.
  • Comfortable leading cutovers and troubleshooting in change windows.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Compute: HPE ProLiant, Synergy, iLO, OneView, COM; BIOS/power tuning; firmware/driver lifecycle; secure boot & TPM.
  • Storage & Data Services: HPE Alletra (Block/File/Object), Nimble, Primera, StoreOnce, InfoSight, DSCC; block/file/object design and operations; replication/DR patterns.
  • SAN & Connectivity: Brocade and Cisco MDS fabrics, zoning best practices; FC/NVMe‑FC, iSCSI, NFS/SMB, S3, multipathing (NMP/MPIO).
  • Virtualization & OS: VMware vSphere (vCenter, HA/DRS, vMotion, vVols), Microsoft Hyper‑V, Windows Server, RHEL, K8s CSI.
  • Data Protection: Snapshots, clones, replication, StoreOnce Catalyst, Cloud Bank; backup tooling (Veeam, Commvault, Networker, RMAN).
  • Automation/Scripting (nice to have): PowerShell, Ansible, REST APIs for OneView/DSCC to standardize builds and checks.
  • Security/Compliance Awareness: Encryption at rest/in flight, RBAC, MFA, key management, immutable backups; regional mandates (RMiT, PDPA, MAS TRM).
  • Strong customer‑facing communication; can translate technical trade‑offs into business outcomes.
  • Excellent documentation discipline and presentation skills.
  • Structured troubleshooting and calm leadership during incidents/cutovers.
  • Stakeholder management across Infra, Cloud, Security, and Application owners.
  • Self‑driven, collaborative, and able to work in multi‑country, multi‑timezone teams.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • HPE: HPE ASE/Master ASE – Compute, ASE/Master ASE – Storage, HPE GreenLake credentials; Aruba exposure helpful.
  • Virtualization/Cloud: VMware VCP‑DCV, Microsoft (AZ‑104/AI‑900 beneficial), RHCSA/RHCE.
  • SAN/Network: Brocade or Cisco DC/SAN certifications.
  • ITSM/Governance: ITIL Foundation, ISO 27001 (LI/LA exposure).
