Technology - Business Analyst (12mth Fixed Term Contract) – New role

Role Detail

Joining the Technology Projects team, part of the wider Technology team of approximately 100 nationally,  you will collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs, translate them into clear and actionable requirements, capture ‘as is’ and model ‘to be’ business processes and workflows, identifying opportunities for process improvements and to ensure solutions meet project outcomes and deliver business value.

Reporting to the Head of Technology Projects, with flexibility to be Melbourne or Sydney CBD based, key responsibilities include:

  • Working with partners and staff to capture end to end business requirements for systems and processes in line with the Project Management framework. Requirements will include ‘as-is’ and ‘to-be’ process diagrams.
  • Identifying issues, risks and benefits of existing and proposed solutions and identifying opportunities
  • for process improvements.
  • Capturing current state metrics (resourcing, time and volume) and highlighting pain points and
  • optimisation opportunities.
  • Assisting with the development of project concept documentation and business case documentation,
  • Making use of the insight and knowledge gained through your BA engagement.
  • Working alongside those responsible for implementing projects to ensure that the project outcomes are consistent with the business requirements and expectations.
  • Maintaining the documented business requirements for solutions throughout the design and development process, handing over to the business owner once the solution is in production.
  • Working with systems to drive efficiency and use process reengineering to improve and upgrade systems.

About You

You are a pragmatic problem-solver with a keen eye for detail, and the ability to align technical solutions with the needs of the business to drive efficiencies and improved business performance. As a clear communicator with an ability to translate the non-technical into technical, and vice versa, you will liaise with various stakeholders, across various levels, needing a maturity that comes with confidence from experience. Your ability to build trust through seeking to understand and then executing on delivery, you will also bring:

  • Solid BA or technical analyst experience in legal and/or professional services
  • Previous experience working on data related initiatives and programs, to hit the ground running and lead the analysis and discovery stages of data projects in the pipeline (projects not limited to data)
  • Process mapping tool experience (eg flowcharting software or Unified Modelling Language)
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, i.e Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to engage and build professional relationships with people at all levels of the organisation
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with competing priorities effectively
