A Day in the Life

We are searching for an Environmental Scientist (Environmental Specialist-Wetlands) to be located at our Arvada, CO office. This position is predominantly field-based, with over 80% of work conducted in remote locations and overnight travel. The Environmental Technician supports natural resource and compliance projects across Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, Utah, and surrounding states.

The compensation range for this role is $50,000 to $65,000 commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location

To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

  • Performs routine site environmental surveys and report preparation under supervision using digital forms including ESRI suite (Survey123 / Field Maps), and Microsoft Suite.

  • Strong practical knowledge of field QA/QC procedures and standard operating procedures (SOP).

  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety standards.

  • Performs task and task management.

  • Maintain and manage field equipment.

  • Assist with technical reports or plans and specifications.

  • Contributes new ideas to program improvements to manager.

  • Assists in coordination of field programs.

  • Travel to offices, project sites and project meetings on an as-needed basis.

  • Perform, assist, and contribute to project tasks and deliverables.

  • Provide your Project Manager or Program Director with progress reports as requested.

  • Maintain and support data collection, and database management in support of clients and internal use.

  • Maintain multiple project tasks simultaneously.

  • Maintain a billability target of 85%.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Your Expertise and Skills

 These requirements reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities that help you do your best work here. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Biology, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or a related field

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant environmental field work (internships acceptable)

  • Familiarity with Rocky Mountain wetlands, vegetation, and wildlife

  • Strong practical knowledge of wetland delineations, permitting, and environmental regulations

  • Experience conducting threatened & endangered species and habitat assessments

  • Proficiency in wildlife, avian, and plant identification

  • Working knowledge of GIS data processing and figure creation (ESRI ArcGIS Pro)

  • Practical experience using GPS equipment (Trimble, Juniper, or similar)

  • Experience with environmental databases and web-based regulatory resources

  • Strong data management skills, including collecting, tabulating, editing, and reviewing field data

  • Excellent communication, technical writing, critical thinking, organizational, and time-management skills

  • Demonstrated adaptability and willingness to cross-train in additional environmental services

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams)
