Technician IV, Electrical

The Role:

In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the reliability, safety, and compliance of Moderna’s electrical infrastructure supporting GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing. You will troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize complex electrical systems that power mission-critical production and laboratory environments.

You will contribute directly to minimizing downtime, improving system performance, and maintaining regulatory compliance in a fast-paced, high-growth manufacturing setting. This role requires technical expertise, ownership mindset, and a commitment to operational excellence.

Here’s What You’ll Do

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical distribution systems, controls, and associated equipment in compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and GMP requirements.

  • Troubleshoot complex electrical faults, diagnose root causes, and implement corrective actions to restore functionality and prevent recurrence.

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical systems including testing, calibration, inspection, and component replacement.

  • Support GMP manufacturing operations by responding to electrical issues with urgency to minimize production downtime.

  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering, facilities, validation, and manufacturing teams to plan and execute maintenance activities.

  • Assist with installation, commissioning, and qualification support of new electrical systems and equipment.

  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation including work orders, equipment history, and spare parts inventory within CMMS systems.

  • Adhere strictly to safety procedures including lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc flash protocols, and site-specific EHS standards.

  • Stay current with evolving electrical codes, regulatory expectations, and industry best practices.

  • May be required to support off-shift coverage, emergency call-in response, or planned shutdown activities.

  • Additional duties may be assigned from time to time.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)

  • Education: AS degree or certificate in a science/technical field or a technical trade school

  • Experience: 7+ years’ of experience

  • Valid electrical license or demonstrated equivalent industrial electrical experience

  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70E and electrical safety standards

  • This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Moderna’s site full-time. This position is not eligible for remote work.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience in GMP-regulated pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences manufacturing environments

  • Strong knowledge of industrial power distribution systems, motor controls, VFDs, PLC-associated electrical systems, and backup power systems

  • Experience supporting critical utilities and infrastructure systems

  • Proficiency using CMMS platforms for maintenance tracking and documentation

  • Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively across functions

  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal

  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong ownership and accountability

The salary range for this role is $74,000.00 - $118,400.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individual’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business or organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation, or equity award, subject to company plan eligibility criteria and individual performance.
