Job Description
The Hardware Technician is responsible for providing hands-on technical support for all firm-issued computers, mobile devices, and related peripherals. This role ensures the reliable deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware assets throughout their lifecycle. The technician performs imaging, configuration, repairs, and timely resolution of support tickets while delivering exceptional customer service to attorneys and staff. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate asset inventory records—tracking hardware assignments, lifecycle updates, and equipment returns to ensure full accountability across the environment. The Hardware Technician works collaboratively with team members, communicates effectively with end users, and contributes to a positive, efficient, and well-organized technology support environment.
Primary Responsibilities and/or Essential Functions:
- Provides comprehensive technical, operational, and training support to end users for firm-issued desktops, laptops, and software—both remotely and on-site.
- Performs advanced hardware diagnostics, troubleshoots issues efficiently, and coordinates vendor repairs or replacements as needed.
- Installs, configures, and tests computers, printers, and related peripherals; deploys operating systems, enterprise applications, and authorized software packages.
- Performs basic administration and support for various third-party utilities and communication platforms, including user configurations and account provisioning.
- Delivers timely and effective technical support for personal computing environments, ensuring minimal downtime and a consistent user experience.
- Maintains accurate asset inventory control, including tracking hardware assignments, lifecycle updates, equipment returns, and documentation within asset management systems.
- Provide on-site technical assistance, which may occasionally include support at user residences when appropriate.
- Any additional responsibilities as required by management.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
- Strong working knowledge of Windows 11
- Experience with modern imaging and deployment tools, such as Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, MDT, SCCM, or comparable technologies.
- Familiarity with mobile device management (MDM) platforms for iOS/iPadOS and Android devices (e.g., Intune, JAMF, ABM/DEP).
- Proficiency with laptop and desktop hardware maintenance, including diagnostics, component replacement, and lifecycle support; experience with Lenovo ThinkPads, Dell business-class systems, MacBooks or similar enterprise hardware.
- Working knowledge of enterprise peripherals, including networked printers and multifunction devices; ability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly—both verbally and in writing—with users at all levels, including leadership, attorneys, vendors, and technical staff.
- Ability to participate effectively in project initiatives, collaborating with team members, managing assigned tasks, providing consistent status updates, and contributing to successful rollout execution.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to maintain accurate parts inventory, track assets, and follow hardware lifecycle procedures.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, maintaining productivity and professionalism in a collaborative environment.
- Strong multitasking and prioritization abilities, capable of working in a fast-paced environment and providing timely status updates and follow-through on assignments.
Education/Certifications:
- Required - High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred - Two / Four year college degree or degree from Vocational Institute in related field of industry
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (engineering, mathematics, physics, etc.) a plus.
- A+ certification or equivalent experience is desired
Estimated salary range is $70,000 - $80,000. Compensation decisions within the range are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case including but not limited to the individual's skills, experience, and qualifications.
