As a Equipment Technician under Secondary Packaging Department, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and availability of manufacturing equipment within the production environment. This role involves hands-on troubleshooting, maintenance, calibration, and repair of complex equipment and systems supporting efficient and cost‑effective mass production operations. Equipment Technician also contributes to process improvements, equipment upgrades, and technical problem-solving to enhance manufacturing capability and overall operational excellence
In this role, a typical day will include:
- Conduct in-depth mechanical and electrical diagnostics on production equipment to identify root causes of failures, resolve breakdowns, and restore equipment to optimal operating conditions. Ensure issues are addressed promptly to minimize downtime
- Provide effective troubleshooting, maintenance, and engineering support to ensure equipment reliability and operational efficiency in manufacturing areas. Recommend process or mechanical improvements to enhance overall equipment performance
- Support Engineering in implementing improvement initiatives by providing equipment insights, identifying performance gaps, and contributing to engineering solutions that enhance uptime, reduce defects, increase throughput, and improve safety compliance
- Participate in root cause analyses for production non-conformances, field actions, and customer-reported issues. Provide technical findings, equipment data, and corrective/preventive action recommendations to address quality concerns
- Assist in project execution for equipment upgrades, retrofits, and enhancements involving mechanical changes, control software updates, hardware modifications, and modernization activities. Collaborate with engineering, vendors, and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth implementation
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
- Min NITEC in Engineering
- At least 3 years working experience in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Process improvement experience in the manufacturing industry
- Technical problem-solving skills with experience in automated pick & place manufacturing environment will be an advantage
