Job Summary: You will serve as a TECHNICIAN in the Special Warfare & Expeditionary systems Department (JX), Power and Energy Systems Division (JXM), Expeditionary Energy Systems Branch (JXMR) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER. The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $137,000).

Major Duties:

  • You will provide technical support that includes development, acquisition, test and evaluation, sustainment, fielding, maintenance, repair and improvement of safety critical electronics on large format high energy storage systems.
  • You will develop plans and procedures to extend existing knowledge and test to account for newly emerging ideas and concepts.
  • You will provide expert advice and guidance to managers, supervisors, peers, end-users, and sponsors on specific technical and life-cycle aspects of systems or concepts development.
  • You will provide hands-on test and evaluation and repair support for battery charging equipment, components, and associated support equipment.
  • You will conduct operational risk assessments on an ad-hoc basis to support safe execution of first-time integration, upgrade, or repair of large format high energy battery systems on various manned undersea platforms at various end user locations.
  • You will provide hands-on support for operating, maintaining, repairing, assembling, and upgrading various pieces of test and support equipment used in battery operations.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12 grade equivalency) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical engineering leadership and guidance on test and evaluation projects to identify risks and repair issues in high energy storage systems (e.g., high voltage lithium-ion battery systems) for the improvement and support of technological advancement and sustainment of the fleet.
