Job Description:

Parsons is seeking an amazingly talented Technical Writer/Editor whose role will be essential to the delivery of high performance, secure, mission critical solutions. We seek personnel that are versatile, display leadership qualities, and are enthusiastic about tackling new challenges as we continue to provide the military with cutting edge tools.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Development, revision, and maintenance of technical documentation for the U.S. Army's Electronic Warfare Planning and Management Tool (EWPMT) system.
  • Translate complex software functionalities and electronic warfare concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation for soldiers and program staff.
  • Work in an agile development environment with software engineers, system architects, and military subject matter experts to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of all EWPMT-related materials, including the formal validation of all updates.
  • Adhere to the guidance and direction of the assigned Communications and Electronics Command (CECOM) Government Technical Writer/Editor, who will monitor performance and provide direct oversight of all documentation tasks.
  • Create and maintain a variety of technical documents including software user manuals, system administrator guides, quick reference guides, online help, and release notes for new EWPMT software capability drops.
  • Specifically sustain and update the EWPMT System Administration Manual (TM 11-7030-257-SAM) in accordance with Army regulations and program updates.
  • Develop a comprehensive validation plan for all change pages to the Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM). Coordinate and facilitate a formal Government verification event to ensure all changes are accurate, complete, and meet Army standards.
  • Review and edit documentation for clarity, grammar, and style. Ensure all materials comply with Army and DoD publication standards.
  • Collaborate with software developers, testers, and Electronic Warfare personnel to understand system functionalities, operational workflows, and the impact of the electromagnetic spectrum on military operations.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a technical writer or editor, with at least 2 years supporting a DoD software development program.
  • Proven ability to document complex software applications.
  • Proficiency with authoring tools such as MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, or similar XML authoring tools.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, Subversion) and document management systems (e.g., SharePoint).
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to elicit information from technical experts.
  • A proactive and detail-oriented approach to ensuring documentation accuracy.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and hold a Secret security clearance. 
  • Must be able to travel.  Anticipated travel level 5%-10%.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Familiarity with Electronic Warfare (EW) concepts, Spectrum Management Operations (SMO), and Signals Intelligence (SIGINT).
  • Knowledge of Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) and MIL-STD-40051-1D for the preparation of digital technical information.
  • Familiarity with Interactive Authoring and Display Software (IADS).
  • Understanding of modern military C2 systems and the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP).
  • Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
  • Hold or be able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance and SCI.

Security Clearance Requirement:

An active Secret security clearance is required for this position.​

Salary Range: $26.59 - $46.54
