Are you passionate about technology and teaching? At Ciena, we’re looking for a dynamic Technical Trainer to deliver impactful instructional programs to customers, partners, and employees. This role combines your enthusiasm for learning with your technical expertise, helping drive adoption and usage of Ciena solutions. As part of our team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of learning through traditional classroom methods and innovative virtual and online instruction.
How You Will Contribute:
Represent Ciena regionally to deliver classroom and online training to customers and partners.
Collaborate with teams and customers, transferring knowledge of Ciena products, services, and technologies.
Develop and maintain training content, lab exercises, presentations, and accompanying materials.
Deliver complex Ciena product and solutions training programs in virtual environments while managing class logistics.
Mentor internal and external instructors through train-the-trainer programs.
Capture and share best practices across the training community to elevate learning standards.
Work with sales teams to define training requirements for customers and employees.
Support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Ciena training systems.
Assist the global sales engineering community with pre-sales and post-sales training activities.
Stay updated on training requirements to meet customer needs and ensure the relevance of training materials.
Travel extensively to customer locations to deliver instructional programs.
The Must Haves:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a technical trainer.
Strong technical background with hands-on experience deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting packet optical networks.
Expertise in instructional delivery and adult learning methodologies.
Excellent presentation and communication skills with a passion for learning and adopting new technologies.
Knowledge of Optical Transport Network (OTN), SONET/SDH, PON/FTTH, and photonic layer technologies.
IP routing knowledge, including OSPF, BGP, ISIS, MPLS-based IP VPNs, and MEF-based Carrier Ethernet Services.
Hands-on experience with packet networking technologies such as IP/MPLS, MPLS-TE, MPLS-TP, PBB, G.8032 QinQ, 1588V2, Synch E services, and TDM Pseudowires.
Industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, JNCIS, Ciena certifications) are highly advantageous.
Nice to Haves:
Experience with SDN/NFV technologies.
Familiarity with DCI, Metro networks deployment, or Video/MSO environments.
Multicultural work experience and ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
Strong analytic and problem-solving skills with detail-oriented organizational abilities.
Demonstrated ability to adapt in dynamic, fast-paced environments with competing priorities.
