Technical Services Consultant - Clinical Chemistry

Are you an experienced Clinical Lab Professional? Labcorp is seeking a Technical Services Consultant, located in San Diego CA to support the clinical chemistry department.  This unique position requires a technical leader with strong problem solving skills and technical expertise in Hematology, Blood Banking, Urinalysis, and Coagulation.  The Technical Consultant will report to the Laboratory Manager and work directly with the Technical Director, Technical Supervisor(s), Laboratory Manager and Site Director.

**Pay Range: $58.00 - $65.00 per hour

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

Job Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer inquiries involving highly complex technical or scientific questions

  • Provide reassurance to clients and identify opportunities to promote services

  • Act as a liaison between clients, sales, and technical departments to facilitate resolution of concerns

  • Manage and complete QCDs promptly, ensuring same-day resolution when possible

  • Support supervisors by providing on-site technical expertise and oversight

  • Monitor laboratory operations and assist in identifying and resolving errors

  • Oversee and execute the AMR process, ensuring regulatory compliance and data integrity

  • Handle method and instrument validations, ensuring proper documentation and implementation

  • Manage and coordinate lab-initiated and assigned projects, ensuring timely delivery and cross-functional collaboration

  • Collaborate with multiple teams across divisions to ensure seamless communication and execution

  • Maintain detailed logs and records of inquiries and resolutions

  • Assist with administrative tasks including answering phones, researching information, and managing databases

 Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
  • 3-5 years of clinical laboratory experience in a CLIA, CAP laboratory environment
  • CA CLS license required
  • Familiarity with LCLS, LCWS, SIS, eAssist, and other Labcorp IT systems is preferred
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office and EP Evaluator  preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the clinical chemistry along with strong knowledge of scientific concepts and effective clinical practices/procedures is preferred
  • Excellent technical and problem solving skills
  • Discretion in handling confidential information
  • Have demonstrated hands-on experience with laboratory procedures
  • Ability to pass a color blind test is required
  • The position requires the candidate to be extremely organized.  Working to tight deadlines, flexibility in approach, exceptional communication skills and attention to detail are essential.
