Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a hard-working Technical Sales Specialist (m/f/d) Imaging who will work in the field to expand our portfolio of imaging and microscopy products, including capital equipment and consumables. The ideal candidate excels in building relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and customers in the life science sector, effectively advocating for and selling imaging solutions across diverse applications. The Technical Sales Specialist will serve as a technical expert within the sales team, helping shape strategic objectives and driving the introduction of new products into the market.

Location
This role requires the Technical Sales Specialist to be based in Munich or the greater Munich area; candidates not currently residing there must be willing to relocate within three months. The position includes regular travel throughout Southeast Germany (e.g., Nürnberg, Dresden, Erlangen) and to Austria (e.g., Salzburg, Vienna), and occasional travel - approximately two to three times per year – to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary to support key customer engagements and drive commercial success.

A Day in the Life:
You will apply deep product knowledge and strong sales acumen to meet territory objectives, engage customers at multiple organizational levels, influence purchasing decisions, and promote Thermo Fisher Scientific’s imaging and microscopy solutions. The role includes developing tailored proposals, coordinating technical presentations with internal partners, and consistently identifying new opportunities for business expansion.

What to expect:

  • Drive sales activities to close opportunities and meet or exceed revenue, profit, and market share goals within expense guidelines.
  • Demonstrate strong expertise in imaging/microscopy technology and serve as the on-site technical expert.
  • Visit customer sites across the assigned territory using solution-selling techniques to influence purchasing decisions.
  • Apply advanced sales skills including effective opening statements, value presentation, and deal-closing strategies.
  • Develop customer presentations and proposals, including pricing and contract structures.
  • Explore new avenues for lead generation and promotion of assigned products and services.
  • Coordinate technical product presentations with R&D, Marketing, Sales, and Field Application Scientists.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Cell Biology, Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field; or equivalent industry/functional experience.

Experience

  • Previous sales experience preferred.
  • Strong technical background in imaging/microscopy required.
  • Ability to manage a broad territory and advance capital equipment sales.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple high-value, long sales-cycle opportunities.
  • High motivation and energy to develop new business.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Effective communication and ability to act as a connector across a diverse matrix organization.
  • Ability to maintain and grow customer data using CRM tools.
  • Willingness to travel 50% or more.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage territory activities.
  • Ability to provide clear updates and insights to managers and team members.
  • Capability to communicate regularly with scientists and management at customer accounts via phone, email, and in-person visits.
