Job Position: Technical Sales Specialist – Clinical Next-Generation Sequencing & Oncology
This is a field-based position in Taiwan for a Technical Sales Specialist – Clinical Next-Generation Sequencing & Oncology with extensive experience and a consistent track record in Clinical/Life Sciences Sales. The candidate will achieve and exceed the assigned territory sales plan and must demonstrate strong technical competence in the areas of next generation sequencing and advanced molecular technologies in the clinical oncology testing market, to boost instrument sales and assay demand.
The Technical Sales Specialist – Clinical Next-Generation Sequencing & Oncology must demonstrate deep technical credibility to effectively consult customers and prospects to influence key decisions on technology and product choices and to lead internal resources and their deployment for successful assay implementation. Strong business insight is also necessary to translate successful account strategy into business results.
Essential Capabilities
- Scientific Consulting Competence - Demonstrates technical ability to collaborate with customers on their testing needs to improve technology utilization and promote current advances in protocols, assays, and capabilities. Understands and navigates driven offerings to the best position solutions.
- Business Insight - Commitment to detailed territory planning, market understanding, accurate and timely forecasting for both ongoing and significant deal/project-based instrument and assay orders. Ability to lead KOL (key opinion leader) and clinician relationships and influence KOLs.
- Instrument Sales Competence - This role involves developing short- and long-term instrument pipeline captured in CRM. Successfully position our solutions to address performance, workflow and budget.
- Collaboration - Successful experience working in a team environment as this role will work closely with Sales teams in Taiwan.
- Diagnostic/Regulatory knowledge – Understanding of the molecular diagnostic regulatory environment for the registration of IDTs, IVD and CDx assays. Monitoring market trends and analyze potential impact on business, prioritization of accounts and opportunities.
Essential Functions
- Develops and manages a business plan to meet or exceed business goals agreed upon with Thermo Fisher Scientific commercial management for the territory.
- Identify new business opportunities and work with the business partners to develop sales potential.
- Customer Relationship Management and Development: Develop and nurture Key Opinion Leaders across territory to grow and promote the business.
- Effectively competes to win projects vs. competitors.
- Manage clinical lab assay utilization. Drive additional assay utilization across your accounts and target new customers and customers not using our instruments and assays. Identify the applications, assays and protocols available and convert the business.
- Supporting clinical trials, laboratory-developed tests and services, and assay registration initiatives.
- Technical presentations to oncologists, pathologists and clinical laboratory stakeholders in Taiwan.
- Respond to enquiries and complaints that will reinforce the company’s position. Maintaining an accurate, detailed customer record in the CRM.
Education
- BA/BS or MS degree in Life Sciences, PhD preferred.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of sales experience in clinical/life science with consistent achievement of sales goals
- Experience in executive-level customer and clinician engagement
- Experience in molecular oncology testing techniques (next-generation sequencing highly desirable)
- Understanding of healthcare industry standards, reimbursement, guidelines, and environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Highly motivated and accepts a complicated and exciting work environment
- Excellent time management, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Outstanding customer advocacy skills
- Highly adaptable and independent
- Fluent Mandarin and English- oral and written.
- Computer and internet knowledge.
- Valid driving license
- Understanding of the molecular diagnostic regulatory environment for the registration of LDTS (Laboratory Developed Tests and Services), IVD and CDx assays.
