Job Description

As a member of the Project Management Office (PMO) within the Global Portfolio Engineering (GPE) organization, a Technical Project Manager is responsible for successfully planning, controlling, and managing project deliverables to ensure that customer needs are met from project request receipt through final acceptance. They manage the efforts of team members and third-party vendors as well as manage the integration and/or delivery of project outcomes.

The project manager will lead the project responsibility for the definition and clear communication of project priorities, delivering project expectations, and identifying and mitigating issue/risk among a project team. All while representing the best interest of the business unit.

Reporting to the PMO Manager, the project manager will manage various types of internal projects within the GPE organization and GSM Technical COEs. All of which align with the procedures and processes governed by the PMO.

This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to interact and influence effectively across all levels of the company. This position requires moderate travel (15%) and is a hybrid position located 3 days per week at our Mayfield Heights office.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Project work will include but is not limited to GSM Technical COE marketing, Continuous Improvement work, and Hardware as a Service program administration.
  • Manages execution of assigned projects, ensuring that Budget, Schedule and Scope are properly maintained.
  • Applies complex and advanced project management and scheduling techniques.
  • Assists in continuous improvement of PMO owned/defined procedures and tools.
  • Participates in marketing activities for GSM Technical COEs
  • Manage subcontracts that include labor and/or fixed price third party deliverables.
  • Support relationships with vendors and subcontractors
  • Deliver projects to the quality standards outlined by the customer.
  • Prepares & Negotiates Change Orders with contractors.
  • Prepares and leads internal project reviews
  • Serves as spokesperson for project deliverables which could include deliverable marketing activities.

Leadership

  • Leads efforts of project personnel on complex projects.
  • Coaches less-experienced project team members to onboard them to the PMO project processes
  • Leads project teams and coordinates activities with support teams and other capabilities.
  • Leads internal project, process, tool improvement efforts.

Interpersonal

  • Responsible for resource scheduling to meet project plan requirements.
  • Serves as the primary interface with stakeholders for assigned projects.
  • Supports an environment conducive to successful team interaction.
  • Acts professional in communication with other departments
  • Act as a coach in interpersonal conflict situations

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • The ability to travel 15% of the time.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Typically, 2 or more years experience in a software, process automation or application engineering capacity and five years or more of proven documented project management experience
  • Further education in business administration, operations, or project management is a plus, i.e., PMP Certification, LSS Certifications
  • Willingness to travel 15%
  • Possesses application or technology knowledge relevant to IT or automation hardware projects
  • Conversant in project management tools such as Smartsheet and MS Project.
  • Familiarity with PMI standards
  • Experienced with other cultures and is emphatic to their way of thinking and working
  • Excellent English language (verbal and written)Familiarity with Rockwell Automation offering is a plus
