Oklo

Technical Product Engineer

Santa Clara, CA or Remote Full Time

Join us in pioneering the next generation of nuclear reactors! As part of the Systems Enablement team, you will help evaluate, onboard, integrate, and manage the engineering tools and platforms that enable teams across Oklo to design, simulate, and deliver advanced fission power technology. You will work at the forefront of the nuclear industry, helping ensure our internal tool ecosystem is scalable, connected, and aligned to the needs of a rapidly growing engineering organization. Come be a part of powering the future with advanced fission power plants to provide clean, reliable, affordable energy.

Position Description

This role will be focused on leading the intake, evaluation, onboarding, and lifecycle coordination of engineering software platforms and vendor-delivered systems. We support a variety of internal “customers” and help ensure new tools are selected thoughtfully, implemented effectively, integrated into existing workflows, and managed responsibly over time. Oklo is a fast-moving startup, and we are scaling the structure around how tools are introduced and maintained without losing speed. You will have the opportunity to shape how engineering systems are researched, introduced, coordinated, and sustained across the company. A nuclear background is not required, but strong technical judgment, organizational discipline, vendor management capability, and curiosity about engineering systems are all essential in this role.

Specific responsibilities may include:

Members of the Systems Enablement team help align tooling, governance, and execution across engineering domains. In this role you might:

  • Lead intake and evaluation efforts for new engineering tools, platforms, and vendor solutions.
  • Gather requirements from internal stakeholders and translate them into clear evaluation criteria, implementation plans, and delivery expectations.
  • Conduct technical research, facilitate demos, compare solutions, and document tradeoffs and recommendations.
  • Serve as a primary coordination point with vendors during onboarding, implementation, and follow-on phases of work.
  • Drive timelines, action tracking, meeting follow-ups, and cross-functional communication across multiple concurrent tool initiatives.
  • Partner with Engineering Infrastructure, IT, and internal customers to ensure new systems are integrated into existing workflows and technical environments.
  • Identify interoperability gaps between existing and proposed tools, including APIs, data flows, permissions, and workflow dependencies.
  • Track implementation progress, surface blockers, and help coordinate internal resources needed for successful rollout and user acceptance.
  • Maintain continuity across the tool lifecycle, including additional phases of work, support engagements, upgrades, and eventual decommissioning or replacement.
  • Build and maintain clear status reporting for stakeholders on active tool onboarding efforts, vendor deliverables, and lifecycle health.
  • Help define repeatable onboarding and platformization practices that improve consistency as the portfolio of tools grows.

Minimum Qualifications:

We’d like to see a clear track record of the following, based on your past roles and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical product management, solutions engineering, systems engineering, technical program delivery, engineering operations, or a similar cross-functional technical role.
  • Experience working directly with software vendors, implementation partners, or third-party technical platforms.
  • Strong technical understanding of software systems, integrations, APIs, permissions models, and enterprise tooling environments.
  • Experience coordinating complex multi-stakeholder technical efforts across internal teams and external partners.
  • Experience translating ambiguous business or engineering needs into structured plans, requirements, and next steps.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with engineers, vendors, and leadership.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous environments and building structure where none exists.

Bonus Qualifications:

Prior experience with our stack and tools is helpful, but not required:

  • Experience supporting onboarding or lifecycle management of engineering, simulation, CAD, PLM, or other technical business systems.
  • Experience with GitLab, Jira, Confluence, or related engineering workflow and project tracking systems.
  • Experience working in regulated, compliance-driven, or high-rigor engineering environments.
  • Experience coordinating user acceptance testing, rollout planning, or change enablement for technical systems.
  • Experience identifying or implementing integrations across SaaS platforms, internal tooling, or vendor-hosted systems.
  • Experience supporting internal platform strategy, systems rationalization, or portfolio-level tool governance.
  • Experience building status dashboards, implementation trackers, or structured reporting for technical programs.

Who you are:

A startup person: You aren't driven by titles or hierarchy, and prefer efficiency to excess process. You don't need or expect to have a lot of guidance but you enjoy working in a fast-paced team. If you prefer the culture and feel of a large organization, that is great, but you likely won’t enjoy working with us! There is plenty of important work and plenty of good opportunities with organizations like that.

Motivated: You are self-motivated. You bring an enthusiasm to the team, and imbue a sense of passion that goes beyond clocking in and clocking out. This isn’t about a fake or arbitrary “pieces of flair” mentality or lack of work-life balance! It is about being a part of the vision and feeling a part of reaching team goals.

A team-player: Oklo genuinely is a team. We aren’t about taking credit for ourselves, and we aren’t about pushing blame to others. We do incredible things because we work as a team.

An excellent communicator: We need a person who is not only technically competent but also a clear and upbeat communicator.

Creative: Being creative means that when things fall outside clear scopes or processes or problems arise without clear solutions, you are able to identify it as well as invent ways to solve a problem or fill a need without micromanagement. The successful person in this job will not only be creative, but also enjoy being creative and solving open-ended problems which may change day-by-day.

Detail-oriented: This focus is a big part of excellence, consistency, and quality. Excellent grammar and spelling matter for both good communication as well as the image of the company that we put forward.
