What You’ll Do

In this role, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of Technical Operations at one of the busiest hubs in the world. Technical Operations oversees DEN’s critical electromechanical and technology systems that keep passengers and bags moving efficiently. The division includes three key units: Baggage Handling Services, which manages the conveyor-based baggage system, individual carrier system (ICS), and 88 self-service bag drops; Passenger Conveyances, responsible for more than 360 elevators, escalators, moving walkways, and the Automated Guideway Transit System (AGTS); and Project Management, which will lead the AGTS Revitalization Program over the next decade. Supported by professional service contractors, Technical Operations will manage an estimated $74 million operations and maintenance budget in 2026.

This role will perform a variety of administrative activities and projects within the Technical Operations division at DEN. It requires a solid foundation and knowledge of administrative solutions, including Microsoft O365 software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and Adobe platforms (Acrobat, Sign). Previous experience in contract administration/management, purchasing, and/or working with electrical, mechanical, and/or technology systems is a plus. The position reports to the Senior Vice President of Technical Operations, and will provide supportive, interpretive, and advisory information to divisional administrators, managers, and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Determine and follow he course of action related to procurement requests 

  • Process budget, contract, and procurement transactions including invoice processing 

  • Support teams contracting needs by being able to assist as needed with contract procurement inception through contract administration close-out 

  • Assist with the annual budgeting process, including analysis of historical spend, justifications, capital equipment requests, and forecasting expenditures 

  • Contribute to the monthly reporting and analysis of programs and projects, including data compilation and analysis related to budgets, expenditures, and performance metrics 

  • Communicate and collaborate frequently with leadership team to coordinate budget with operational activities and create spend plans 

  • Identify process improvement opportunities and lead the efforts for improvement 

  • Participates in the development of short-term and long-range planning initiatives and programs and serves as a liaison with other stakeholders’ groups 

  • Manage and coordinate employee recruitment and new team member on-boarding.

  • Organize, manage, and book departmental travel. Provide internal and external event planning and support. Create, edit, and coordinate public presentations.

  • Maintains organization of divisional documents and records in a logical fashion to ensure quick and easy access and compliance with applicable record retention requirements.

  • Conducts studies and/or research projects within the scope of the functional area, prepares comprehensive reports that reflect findings and conclusions, recommends feasible solutions in areas that require attention or change, and implements approved recommendations.

  • Implements procedures for evaluating effectiveness of the functional area, ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies, and assists in establishing processes and controls to ensure compliance.

  • Performs other duties as assigned 

Location and Schedule

  • In this role, you will work on-site at Denver International Airport. The workspace is located on Level 8 of the Airport Office Building. Employee parking will be provided.

  • You can expect to follow a schedule of five working days with 8-hour shifts, spending at least four days per week in the office. You’ll have the flexibility of one remote work day each week.

  • Schedules are subject to change based on operational need.

Our ideal candidate will also have the following skills and experience:   

  • Two or more years administratively supporting a manager or director and/or working in budget, expenditure, procurement and contracting

  • Experience utilizing financial and contract management systems, data analysis and reporting tools; Experience with vendor/contract management 

  • Experience with budget development and management, as well as financial analysis 

  • Aptitude for understanding and communicating business processes 

  • Excellent and versatile communication, both written and verbal, and strong interpersonal skills 

  • Naturally curious and able to identify risks and opportunities for innovation and process improvement 

  • Motivated self-starter who can carry out assignments with substantial independence and able to complete multiple tasks with varying deadlines while remaining organized 

  • Strategic thinking, problem solving and collaborative leadership skills

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in fast paced, changing environment

  • Government experience is a plus

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in a related field based on a specific position(s). 

  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years’ experience performing full performance professional level duties within a specialized, functional area. (This does not include clerical experience.) 

  • Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.  

  • License/Certifications: None

 

FBI Background Check

FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment. By position, a pre-employment physical/drug test may be required.  

Shift Work, Snow Duties, and Emergency Incidents 

Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If staffing challenges arise, weather conditions warrant, or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees will be required to work extended hours and/or alternative shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays).
