A new opportunity for a Technical Manager role has arisen in Crest Nicholson's South Division based out of their Addlestone Office.
The Technical Manager will lead the coordination and management of all technical activities associated with the delivery of a large-scale timber frame remediation programme across multiple residential apartment blocks.
The role is responsible for managing all investigations, technical design development, regulatory approvals and consultant inputs required to implement compliant remediation solutions safely. Working closely with internal project teams and external specialists, the Technical Manager will ensure that architectural, structural, fire engineering and surveying information is developed, reviewed and coordinated to support safe and efficient remediation works.
The role will ensure works are undertaken in accordance with current building safety legislation, Building Regulations, and company technical standards, while maintaining the businesses programme, cost and compliance objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, review and manage the work of external consultants and specialist designers to ensure the timely delivery of accurate and coordinated design information aligned with programme and project requirements. External consultants may include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate architectural detailing associated with remedial works on a block-by-block basis, ensuring appropriate use of site-specific or standard details depending on the scope of works identified.
- Manage Structural Engineers responsible for Temporary Works design, ensuring designs are reviewed, approved where required and issued to the project team in accordance with programme requirements.
- Ensure Building Surveyor inspection reports are received, reviewed and distributed to the project team, identifying critical path actions and ensuring these are tracked and closed out.
- Manage Fire Engineer inspections, ensuring they are undertaken in the correct sequence and that resulting reports and recommendations are reviewed and implemented to achieve building compliance.
- Liaise with Building Control bodies to ensure compliance with block-specific Building Regulations requirements, coordinating inspections and securing formal approvals and completion sign-off.
- Manage and coordinate Requests for Information (RFIs) relating to each block following inspections undertaken prior to commencement of works, ensuring all technical queries are tracked, actioned and resolved.
- Monitor and manage costs associated with technical instructions and design changes, supporting the project team in maintaining programme milestones and critical path activities.
- Maintain effective working relationships with Local Authorities, statutory bodies, consultants and internal project stakeholders.
- Represent the Company at project meetings where technical matters are discussed and provide clear technical guidance where required.
- Oversee technical investigations, design development and design optimisation, ensuring all necessary documentation and drawings are produced to enable works to be procured and delivered in compliance with Building Regulations and project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with the Company Health & Safety Policy and actively promote safe working practices across all technical activities.
- Actively contribute to maintaining a safe working environment by identifying hazards, minimising risks and reporting any potential dangers, incidents or accidents to the appropriate manager or designated Health & Safety Officer.
Essential Qualifications/Attributes
- Strong Technical knowledge base from a Technical Design background of either architectural or civil engineering
- Educated to HNC / HND in a construction related qualification
- Knowledge of the housebuilding industry gained with a high volume house builder
- Experience in timber frame construction
