We’re seeking a Technical Manager – Building Compliance to provide specialist expertise across our national project portfolio, supporting the delivery of safe, compliant and high‑performing assets.
Reporting to the Senior Technical Manager, this role will provide leadership in building regulatory compliance, including the NCC/BCA, accessibility standards and performance‑based design pathways. You’ll work across our Investment Management, Development and Construction teams, engaging early in the project lifecycle to shape strategy, de‑risk outcomes and champion best practice.
This is a highly influential role, ideal for someone who enjoys working across a diverse portfolio, partnering with project teams, consultants and authorities to solve complex compliance challenges.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Leading enterprise building compliance strategy and governance, covering NCC/BCA, accessibility and regulatory interfaces across the project lifecycle.
Providing early‑stage compliance input to feasibilities, due diligence and approval pathways, identifying key risks and mitigation strategies.
Partnering with project teams through design, construction and OC, providing expert advice on complex regulatory and performance‑based solutions.
Reviewing and challenging design documentation and specialist consultant reports, including fire engineering, accessibility and regulatory assessments.
Liaising with certifiers and authorities on interpretations, approvals and evidence of suitability requirements.
Supporting construction delivery through compliance advice on materials, substitutions, site inspections and installation issues.
Embedding safety, quality and sustainability outcomes, including Safety in Design, CiDD requirements and continuous improvement initiatives.
Building capability across the business through training, knowledge sharing, innovation and regulatory insight.
About you:
You’ll be a trusted technical expert who combines deep regulatory knowledge with pragmatic delivery experience, able to influence outcomes without direct authority, who will bring:
Tertiary qualifications in Architecture, Building Surveying / Certification, Fire Safety Engineering or a related discipline.
10+ years’ experience across design and construction on complex projects.
Advanced capability in NCC/BCA interpretation, accessibility standards and performance‑based compliance pathways.
Proven experience reviewing fire engineering strategies, egress and compartmentation.
Strong documentation review skills and confidence working with consultants, certifiers and authorities.
Excellent stakeholder engagement, judgement and problem‑solving skills.
Post‑graduate qualifications or recognised credentials in building regulation, fire safety or accessibility will be highly regarded.
