The Technical Facilities Integration Engineer will be responsible for supporting day to day operations of the MLB Baseball Technology Data Centers, Youth academies and facilities. This will include installation and fabrication of cabling components to accommodate network, systems and broadcast facilities, as well as support the development of and assist with the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
The candidate should possess a functional understanding of terminating, dressing, and integrating various types of cabling for a variety of systems. Familiarity with various types of copper and fiber cabling such as, but not limited to, RJ11/12, RJ45, BNC, mini-BNC, mini-DIN, RCA, XLR and others as needed for projects. Candidate should also possess a general knowledge of Environmental Management and Power distribution systems. You will work closely with design engineers and senior management on deployment of cabling infrastructure and integrate new systems into our pre-existing data center and park environments.
Responsibilities
Assist with efforts to install, maintain, repair, and expand infrastructure related systems.
Assist With troubleshooting RF systems, conference room Crestron AV systems and common flat screen LCD, LED & Plasma type televisions
Assists with incoming shipments and outgoing deliveries
Candidate should have an eagerness to learn and adapt to new integration technologies/hardware to meet current and future needs of the facilities.
Read and decipher VidCAD drawings, perform the functionality of printing labels and complete smaller scale projects to drawing specification
Provide technical operations support and expertise to the MLB organization as a whole and its supporting technology teams.
Run and dress cable in organized bundles inside broadcast, Telco and server type cabinets.
Installs network, broadcast and critical systems type devices into broadcast, Telco and server type cabinets
Follows cabling standards to meet optimal cabinet ingress and egress of airflow
Open, update, and close service tickets as necessary.
Proactively monitor, analyze, and rectify technical faults in a variety of structured cabling assemblies.
Reports all task and project related dependencies to technical facilities supervisor
Assists Technical Facilities Operations team with daily operational tasks, maintenances and emergency support
Reports materials stock and replenishment needs to inventory manager
Assists Technical Facilities Operations team with daily operational tasks, maintenances and emergency support
Performs routine maintenance within' Telco Closets, IDF rooms and Data Center facilities
Will assist in planned and unplanned emergency type scenarios
Performs routine visual PDU amperage inspections and report any issues to reporting manager
Maintains inventory, tools and supplies for all facilities in an organized and clean working manner
Ability to power load balance across all facility PDU infrastructures
Qualifications & Skills
3-5 Years’ experience with general cabling and termination of audio, video, voice and data in a live production and or data center environment
Strong level of structured cabling terminology and application
Communicate with a strong knowledge of broadcast, network and live production terminology
Competence with Mac and Windows Operating Systems.
Works effectively as a team player with colleagues and internal customers
Willingness to learn new skills and take direction from Senior Data Center Engineers and MLBAM Technical Facilities Staff
Lifting of heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
Ability to climb ladders and work in tight spaces without difficulties
Strong technical documentation and organizational skills
Ability to travel to remote sites as needed (5% travel, primarily in the off-season)
Must have a valid Identification and Passport for traveling purposes
Understands critical systems HVAC to cabinet level airflow
Intermediate level of fiber terminology and application
Understands single and three phase power in 120v & 208v operation
